I currently have a Skybox F5 with a powered external 1TB Hard Drive, I'm thinking about upgrading to a VU+ Duo
Would my current powered external hard drive work just as well as a internal one would with a Duo ?
Thanks

Hello Aletank,

I had an external drive for about a year. I then installed an internal drive, the internal is much better as there are less wires hanging around and looks neater. (My wife prefers it!).

As for whether it would work, I'm sure one of the helpful mods will advise you . . . .

An external powered USB drive should be fine, prefer internal though.
Can you open the casing & take the drive out?

Would it be a 2.5" sata inside ?

I have had powered usb HDDs that are 2.5" and 3.5" and PATA and SATA internally. Newer drives tend to be SATA and 2.5" but no guarantees. If you can take it out you'll know.:) If you like guessing, you could measure the externals and imagine whether it conceals a 2.5" or a 3.5" drive.

It's a Seagate drive, only a few weeks old, I can't see any screws on it so I think it's a case of prising it open

you can fit either a 3.5 or 2.5 in the duo
