It would work but what's the point?

You don't need a fast drive for recording and its more expensive. Only benefit is lack of noise and heat.

It could be argued that a there's no negative issue when increasing drive speed, there's no detrimental effect.

Also that SSDs are very reliable.

Why spend a lot of money without gaining any benefit?

Totally agree. I had a Samsung EVO 120GB SSD before I swapped it for a Hitachi 1TB 5400 HDD and have never noticed any difference in performance except that I have load more space now!
