I have same issue with build 775 (vu+ ultimo). Box crashed if i go to download plugins, it also crashed when i tried to reboot it. I also noticed that box is saying that there's an update but if i go to check what's coming i get warning message that box is doing background update check and i have to wait some time. This lasted for hours.

Box is connected to internet with ethernet cable. I had to re-flash 774 build and it's working fine with same settings and plugins.

Strange. EPG is directed to usb and logs+backups are directed to hdd and i don't have much plugins installed. Is this 775 taking much more space from flash because i have not have any issues before with earlier builds?

Here's my filesystem status with build 774

Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on

I also got the error, that I have run out of space. Did a clean flash and space available was again 400MB, keeping my eye on it what could have caused it.

Could there be example some log file which is writing flash to full. I remember that once i had LaCie networkspace "nas" and it had feature that it wrote it's internal flash to full some log.

I've figured out were the problem is....

The background update check, wich performs opkg update, something goes wrong with the file:
/var/lib/opkg/lists/openvix-mips32el

Over time the file grows so big that it becomes unparseable and you can't update, you'll run out of space, .....
After removing the file, all is good to go again.

Why does the file grow though?

Crashlogs?

See first post for a crash log, I'm not having a crash, but it's also unrelated, it crashes because of low flash space, but the app/plugin/... that crashes because of that, has no idea why space has gone down.

All I can say is that the auto update check, sometimes messes up and downloads a file that is corrupted and waaaay tooo big, hence the low space afterwards.
Removing the file responsible and re-running update check from GUI fixes the issue(after removing the file it was already fixed, to dot the i's) or (opkg update from terminal).

So I've disabled auto update check for now... the only question remains... why does it happen, and as far as I know, there are already 3 persons with this particular problem, I also know that the default update check is 6 hours (I think) and that I changed my setting to 1 hour, so I've got a chance of running into problems 6 times faster than people running the default setting. Because we already have 3 cases, it's not personal setup related.

I also did a clean flash, restored settings, NO restore of plugins, so pretty damn clean image, 1 day later it happend.

What is normal size for those file's in lists folder? Seems that those files in my box are now
openvix-mips32el 4,9MB
openvix-vuultimo 1,5MB
other files are under 500kB

Currently i'm running build 778 and hoping that those files doesn't grow up.

Anyone got an idea on the fix for this??

Seem to have the same problem with my Solo2 running very low on flash memory 14kb & hanging when trying to shutdown.

I wasn't sure which files to delete other than the openvix-mips32el mentioned (that only made 14mb free flash). So I've restored back to 774 again keeping settings & plugins.

I had the crossepg problem with 775 where it would hang on reading titles for ages. Epg still doesn't auto-update on 774 so I've just disabled that for now & also made the software update only check every 24 hours. Flash is showing 134mb free now so will keep my eye on it over the next few days.

Best work around I could think of at the moment.

It was said to ftp & delete this file /var/lib/opkg/lists/openvix-mips32el but wasn't enough so I did a restore to previous image

Glad you've sorted it. We'll just have to keep an eye on them to see if flash size reduces again. Strange.

Telnet into the box & issue:

find / -type f -size +50000k -exec ls -lh {} \; | awk '{ print $9 ": " $5 }'

This will find any files above 50MB, any on the flash besides kcore probably shouldn't be there...

Same problem here. Large file taking in excess off 80-100MB
