Just out of interest can these drivers be installed manually and if so how?

AJT,

Unzip the file to extract a file called dvb.ko (this is the driver file)

FTP the dvb.ko file to the folder /lib/modules/3.3.8-20/extra/ (it will overwite the dvb.ko file already there), and then do a restart. Think that should do it!

Hello,

1/ Do we need to manually installed them or they will be part of the normal update mgt?

root@gbquad:~# opkg list-installed |grep drivers
enigma2-plugin-drivers-network-usb-rtl8192cu - 1.0-r1
enigma2-plugin-drivers-network-usb-smsc75xx - 1.0-r2
enigma2-plugin-drivers-usbserial - 1.0-r0
oe-alliance-drivers - 1.0-r9

2/ Do we know which new CI modules are supported?

3/ If I am correct to linux open box does support CI+. But are they CI compliant? -I am looking to get support to the Fransat CI+ module, but I don't think this will work.

Thanks

My new Quad doesn't boot beyond the red LED so any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've been having issues with the drivers dated the 05.11.2013 with build 793.

If I try to record 2 programs and watch a third ( dvb-s2) I often get one recording working and the 2nd recording failing with a 0:00 timespan. If I try to record 3 programs and watch a 4th I get 2 recordings with 0:00 and one recording working as normal.

The only recording to work is the first one to start.

A reboot sometimes fixes it but only 1 time then the fault returns.

I've reflashed the box without a back up and the fault is still there.

I see there are newer drivers on the openmips archive dated 14.11.13 these contain the same bug.

I've tried rolling back to the 02.11.13 drivers and this fixes the problem.

I've tested it several times with this old driver and I can't get the fault to come back.

Just posting this so that other people can save some time and not have to deal with an angry wife when strictly records and x factor does not

I just popped on to say I'm having problems with recordings but without the analysis, so thanks I'll look to downgrade my drivers.

I'm getting quite disappointed with all the tinkering going on. The Quad has been brilliant since I bought it in Spring. Even my missus has had to admit that unlike the preceding kit, it was reliable, fast and very feature rich. However over the last two-three weeks we have had several reboots, audio sync problems, the mini-lcd 'shifts' so that the picture clock is unreadable and now recordings fail.

I hope this is a blip and the GB devs get back to a stable build

you won't regret your purchase. The Quad is a wonderful box, just the software (drivers) can 'spoil' it sometimes but that is temporarily.

You won't regret your purchase the quad is an excellent box. My box has been solid for almost a year its just this last driver update that has caused me issues.

If transcoding ever arrives then the quad will be a massive bargain given its current capabilities.

I sold my Vu Duo to buy a Quad, and once I had it set up correctly, it's been virtually rock solid. As dwarf said, if transcoding ever comes it'll take the box to another level. Trust me, it's a LOT of box for the money!

Transcoding allows you to stream movies and live TV internally through your network or externally via the internet at a reduced bitrate on the fly.

skippie
25-01-14, 16:47
the problem is : when you set recording before and after to 0 then the second or other recordings have no picture, only sound, or there's nothing at all. (0 recording)

for exemple : starting a recording at 14.00 for 10 mins till 14.10 is ok
next recording starts at 14.10 till whenever, well that recording is not right then. (recording on the same channel)

Set the recording setup to 1 min before and x-minutes after, then there is no problem

I had a problem yesterday with a timer recording which was 0 bytes length.

Today, I was recording the 6 nations rugby (from Irish DTT) - checked while recording and the recording was 0 bytes length and wouldn't play.
Stopped the recording then started it again - same issue.
Changed back to the old driver, rebooted, tried again - recorded fine.
The recording problems are intermittent and random - using the 02 November driver doesn't have these problems.

Also... I'm sorry but I'm italian and in Italy there is a provider that is not free so it is the reason why I asked u about softcam. Strange thing anyway, no problems here also on fta even if channels are on dvb-t or dvb-s and also on multiple recordings and providers and tuners...Trust me I testrd it for one week..

Guys, i have the problem too now, i didn't have this problem with older drivers and i am recording on the same HDD as before.

Gigablue Quad / Quadplus
fixed mute when play
fixed audio mute via hdmi.
fixed pink screen.

fixed ac3+/dts-hd passthrough via hdmi.

if ac3+/dts-hd supported on avr.
it will be connected audio passthrough.
if only ac3 supported on avr.
It will be connected ac3+ converted ac3 audio passthrough.

added /proc/stb/hdmi/bypass_edid_checking
if bypass_edid_checking is '1' and downmix is 'off'
it wil be connected audio passthrough.

fixed no audio when Grauzone

Whatever about DTS-HD, the annoying "random" recording zero byte bug still exists - I updated yesterday and last night had one timed recording - which is zero bytes in length. And the OpenMIPS muppets still bleat about this being "difficult to reproduce". I'd say they find difficulty in reproducing alright...

Back to the 20131102 drivers I'm afraid (which they have kindly removed from their archive.openmips.com forum)

Id rather watch SD channels on my Quad.. Than put my card in original Sky HD receiver.. to watch HD..

Plenty more providers out there.. Sky UK are NOT the be all and end all of TV..

Could not agree more.

Good point. Also would be nice to know about the recording if it does work. The tivo box only needs 1 tuner tho it records 4 channels. Would this be possible.

That's a shame I suppose it's something to do with the encription they used to block the old cable boxes :(
