View Full Version : [VU+ Duo] Problems with 775 : EPG and WiFi

Hi,

I just did a reflash to 775 and I had some problems, first my WiFi key doesn't work anymore (but this can be a problem with the key), but, more important EPG is doing something strange.

I have seen that there was some changes so I 'll try to be specific.

I have only one OpenTV loading (SKY IT) and the only other EPG I load is SRG (swiss).

First time I tried I was watching a SRG channel and EPG started, did the usual thing but without any "counting" and without freezing the picture as before (as for new EPG...) it was quite fast, too fast in fact as the EPG for SKY was empty.

I retried on a SKY channel (but at the moment without the card) and it did the Channel counting up to the usual 850 or so, then started "reading titles" and stopped at 195Kb after quite a while I killed the process. I tried it several times and the result were the same: on SRG finishes with no data on SKY stops at 195Kb.

Should I try something alse?

Thanks

G

For Wifi, you have to temporarily connect using ethernet cable and then download drivers. Wifi drivers are no longer included by default.

Give the epg some more time.

Ok, I haven't noticed any mention of this. I'll try and see if I can find it.

Give the epg some more time.
You mean more time to EPG to see if it gets to the end of download, or wait for the next update?

Thanks,
G

Hi, I was having the same problem with Build 774 today where the epg update stops at 195KB, if it helps anyone, I deleted the epg.dat off my usb and re downloaded using Cross EPG downloader, worked first time then and all epg is back. :)

More time to complete.

I'm guessing that we are now seeing what it used to do in the background after it had zapped back to the channel we were on.. Assumption is that it is taking longer when this may not be the case.

Well,

I tried e few things: deleting epg data, trying again on and off the SKY channel, waiting, but it was always the same: either no data or stuck on 195Kb. So I got back to 747 and everything works again...

About the WiFi: how do I find which driver I have to download? Alternatively, which one was the one included in the old version(that one was the right one for me)? Next time I'd like to be prepared.

Thanks for the help.

Can you say which wifi receiver you have, better still, what chipset it has?

Can you say which wifi receiver you have, better still, what chipset it has?

Well, that is the problem - if I knew that I'd know what to download...
It is KRAUN KR XC , and of course nowhere it says what the chipset is. But I remember that when I first got the DUO only one chipset was supported and I got the right one (at the third attempt....) so if anyone knows what chipset that was, i can get that.

Providing debug logs of when you try to do an EPG download as well as providing as much info as possible is the only thing that can help here...
Tuner setup, EPG save location, debug logs...

Plug it into a PC and explore the details, it should say what drivers it is using.

Hi have the same issue with CrossEPG where it is "stuck" on "Read Titles 195KB.

Here is a sequence of events:

1) Stopped enigma2
2) Deleted epg.dat & crossepg folder & all logs
3) Restarted enigma2
4) Performed CrossEPG download
5) Waited a century
6) Checked the quick guide and the EPG is full of gobbledygook

Logs and screenshot attached :-)

HI,
same problem here with an et9000: with a fresh 775 install, I have the same crossepg problem, if I downgrade to 774, it works like a charm ...

I read somewhere in the forum that upgrading to 776 resolved the issues with CrossEPG.....

You might want to try that as well

I have a problem with CrossEPG too.

I upgraded 2 Solo2 boxes in the last week, one is still on 775 , the other is on 786.

Both boxes run CrossEPG and finish, but it seems to run far too quickly than I remember and no surprise, no guide data exists afterwards :-(

I have tried deleting the EPG.dat and Crossepg folder from the HDD and whilst the Crossepg folder get re-populated with the database files, the EPG.dat file does not re-appear.

UPDATE:

Switching from XEPGDB to XMLTV has worked, theres just odd channels missing like ComedyCtrl+1 which I can live with, they may have been missing previously for all I know :)

Have you setup a swap file?

I hadn't, I've always left the box pretty much configured as it comes, but I have just setup a 256Mb swap using the SwapManager.

Larry-G
14-11-13, 13:28
no need to setup a swap file on a solo2 it has more than sufficient memory, a swap file will just slow it down.

Well,
I tried again to load the latest VIX update but the result was the same EPGdownloader either was fast but didn't load anything or hangs at 195Kb (and if you wait enough ends with nothing loaded too).
So I tried as suggested above, uninstall CrossEPG and reinstall it, and everything now works perfectly! I have no idea what was the problem or how this fixed it (it wasn't the configuration as it was still there), but I am happy now.

And, as an aside, if you need to reinstall the WIFi driver for a stick that worked with the default Vix before(the other problem I had), you have to install the "R37" driver.

Thanks to all,

G
