depends on your budget and exactly what you want to get out of the receiver.

for £200 you have a good choice as you said the TM's, Gigablue, xp1000, SF8 HD etc etc.

as for plugins any of the above boxes will run all your used to on the alien and a lot more as these are true enigma based boxes and not running a badly hacked E2 like the alien does.

Never used the gigablue my self but from what i hear it is a solid receiver, with the setup your suggesting you will have a dual tuner not a twin, meaning that you can only use one tuner at a time and not both as you can with a proper twin tuner.

At around the £200 mark I think I would be going for the Venton HD2.

Its a solid box with good driver support. It will support dvb-s2 and dvb-c/t with the bonus of an internal hdd.

The Technomate is a good box but it has took a while for Technomate to sort the drivers out and the Venton is slightly better speced.

The plus boxes from Gigablue look great but they're just out so I would expect some teething problems and won't support an internal hdd.

The UE+ has LCD, but not for live TV.

The HD2 here is a better option to use a combo satellite / terrestrial as it has DVB-T/T2 http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/Venton-Unibox-HD2-single-tuner-hybrid-dvb-c-t2-cable-freeview-hd?filter_name=hd2

DVB-T2 will give you Freeview HD.

has MINI LCD TV on the receiver screen.

Not tested that feature here so cannot confirm at this time, but its far to small to watch live TV on and why would anyone want to?
