I have installed Samba and would like to know how I can map to a network share?

Thanks

Hi,

I get a list of IP addresses, but when I try and expand nothing appears. The shares are on my windows 2008r2 server and password protected.

How do I get access to these?

Thanks
Msuk

Is Samba running on the boxes you want to share? Often you have to start the service on NAS devices, although it will be running on windows boxes.

I have made another folder on my server that is not password protected, and I can use that. I made it read only shared with everyone, and I just drop files in and out.

hi there,

Nope, that didn't work for me. I created a folder that "everyone" group in Windows can access and when I expand the ip address on the Solo2 I don't see that folder :(

If that doesn't work try this:

http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?15974-How-To-Setting-up-Windows-Network-Share

I use this method and it works perfectly

Have you set your windows workgroup name in the /etc/samba/smb.conf file?

I have line 8 set to workgroup = MSHOME

That enables simple access to the VU+ box from a PC - it might not do all that you want - you will have to test that out yourself.

Well, as a starter you could tell us which image you're using.

Hello,

I have read the PDF and still can't get shares to appear. I have a windows network share that I would like to access in my Solo2. Can this be done?
