Hi peeps,

I have the following set-up on a vu-duo:

1M Aluminium Orbital Dish
Technomate TM2600 Motor
Inverto Ultra LNB
Location - Hertfordshire (30 miles North of London)

I am using USALS.

I can/cannot receive from the following satellites:

45E Y
42E N
36E N
31.5E N
28.2E Y
26E N
23.5E Y
19.2E Y
16E Y
13E Y
10E Y
9E Y
7E Y
4.8E Y
0.8W Y
4W N
5W Y
7W N
30W Y
45W Y

I really want to be able to pick up Nilesat 7W. Any ideas why I cannot get a lock on? I am hitting multiple satellites so surely must be on the arc.

Many thanks.

Which channel settings are you using?

100% dish to aligned properly?

I am using Catseye 75E to 45W settings downloaded from the plugin feed.

Set correct motor elevation
Set motor to 0.8W
Moved assembly left/right and adjusted the dish elevation angle until received strong signal on Thor (0.8)

If I am hitting 0.8W, 5W, 30W and 45W then I would have thought it was set up correctly. Something must be missing in the puzzle if I can't reach 7W though.

Try the ones in the forum, I think the ones in plugins may be out of date.

I am not too far from you and can get pretty much everything thats possiable on 7W

My installer had to tweak to 7.3W to get anything on there.

I'm pretty sure I have tried the settings from the forum as well, but I will try again.

So you can get all the Al Jazerra sports channels?

What size dish have you got?

Did you align your dish the same way?

Look at the footprint at
http://www.satbeams.com/footprints
then you see that 7W is not exactly shining in your direction. In the Netherlands as well as in France I can only receive a very limited number of transponders from 7W (and depending on conditions even nil at all).

Are you using Diseqc positioning then? I used goto command to 7.3 but still couldn't catch anything.

I am using USALS so no adjustment should be required.

No, my installer tweaked one of the coordinates by 3 degrees to catch 7.3w.

Your 1m dish is not aligned properly if you can't get at least some channels in your location from the 7°w satellite position.

But if you are interested in the main football channels you need a larger dish for reliable viewing in all weathers.

Hi,

I have successfully pulled in over 700 channels from 7w. I am glowing with excitement right now! Here is how I did it:

Service searching -Manual Scan
Selected Single Satellite and chose 7w

- Picked up 5 channels all on the same transponder

Service Searching - Positioner Setup
Tune to the transponder of the channels above
Press auto focus

- SNR went from 36% to 51%

Edited Tuner configuration Longitude until SNR reached 51% on above channel (0.163 west > 0.763 East)

Service searching -Manual Scan
Selected Single Satellite and chose 7w

- Picked up 700+ channels inc ALJ Sports HD 1-5 and AD Sports HD 1/2 :-)

Thanks for input guys, really helped me out.

Well, you know your way around now in adjusting the motor

Please help answering us this kind of questions raised in the future on the forum.

Got some heavy rain at the moment and can't get any signal for ALJ Sports on 7w. Do you get the same issue? Would be quite annoying with the amount of rain we get!

there is a dish size guide on a another forum by William 1 which is excellent and has puts a lot of work into in it , 7w is a hard bird to hit even with my 1.2 meter dish where I live in the uk , to get it fully where I am I would need a 1.8 to 2.4 meter dish ( too expensive for me at the mo)

Nitemare - I tried later in the evening and was pulling in over 700 channels on my 1M aluminum :p

cwebb66 - Thanks I will have a search for that info

Stanman - Thanks for testing for me, it's useful having someone to compare to in my local area.
