running openvix. no probs on uk channels but on such as 13e I keep getting <n/a> instead of channel names. when I try to open the channel name comes up but also DVB Service. Sometimes I get message Tune failed no sid in pat. It is loaded with Catseye 75w to 42e settings

many thanks

This normally happens when the provider changes frequency etc for the channels in question, there is very little you can do about this other than wait for a new updated bouquet pack or update it your self.

Sometimes re-installing the same settings helps.

Unfortunately it happens sometimes that after installing a channel list the N/A-issue pops up.
The best way to prevent this is to stop E2 before FTPing the files and/or re-install the same list once again.

Hi Rob,
I was going to do it via the plugins remove/download function. Is that not the best way to do it

Same applies then: it just happens and if it does re-install them.

Hi,
n/a can have several other reasons:

1. sat not configured
2. the channel can simply not be received because of a misaligned or to small dish.
3. slight differences in the frequencies

ciao

I think I can rule out 1 and 2. Am getting good signal on 1mtr dish in Midlands, and also the channel names come up when i press on them, but also show dvb service. As for frequency changes, it seems to be nearly all the channels so I don't think it would be that. However I will keep trying to find the answer. thank you for input

2. the channel can simply not be received because of a misaligned or to small dish.
3. slight differences in the frequencies

1- would give a greyed-out channel, not N/A
2- that would lead to SID not found in PAT, not to N/A

I very much doubt if 3 will ever happen (i.e. frequency so far out that it is in fact an other transponder). Anyway: also in that case N/A wouldn't show, but the channel would simply not be received.

Unfortunately there's also
4- Reasons unknown, in which case re-installing the list helps (most of the time). And the rest of the story (he channel names come up when i press on them, but also show dvb service) is consistent with that.

Hi Rob,

n/a is shown if your favorite channel is not in the lamedb. So perhaps lamedb does not fit the favorite list.

Well, I can only say that quite some people run into this issue, with good channel lists (also from the feeds). And re-installing does help.

The only legitimate reason for this I can think of, is that most of the times lists are being loaded while E2 is alive (this also applies to installing settings from the feeds). And in that case all actual (or in fact: old) lists are in live memory, so the newly installed ones can be overwritten.
Since I configured Dreamset in such a way that E2 is stopped first and restarted after the upload, I never encountered this any more.

Hi Rob
is dreamset better to use than DB edit, which I find a little confusing at times

Most of the times I use Dreamset, but I also use DB-Edit and SetEditDream.
They all have their strong and weak points.

DreamSet is the only one that can be configured to stop Enigma before writing the settings (so that is 100% fail safe).
