FTP/Filezilla problem: "500 OOPS: vsftpd: refusing to run"

Folks,
I usually use Filezilla to manage my transfers to and from my Duo.
However after I last updated the Duo(3.0.741) I get the following error
500 OOPS: vsftpd: refusing to run with writable root inside chroot()
I can still access the drive with Windows Explorer but not via FTP.
Has anyone any idea what the fix for this issue is?

You normally only see this message if you have restored a settings backup from ViX 2.4 or earlier into the ViX 3.0 image.

The only way to fix it is with a clean flash and without restoring the affected backups.
