Having problems!

Having some real problems with my recently purchased vu+ solo2 if any has any input it would be great

- Receiver becomes unresponsive. The OSD may be stuck on a channel or in standby or display "Vu Solo2"
- Screen is black with no sound
- No response from remote include turning on or off
- Requires hard reset
- When reset the openvix image comes up but the remote remains unresponsive
- To be able to use remote or receiver I need to reflash the box
- Currently using openvix (I didn't request image to be pre-installed but it was!)
- Have updated from vu+ website official and tried several vix images
- Only plugin installed is cccam 2.3 as part of softcam preinstalled, no plugins downloaded

For example, ITV2 was left on overnight but by morning box had froze. Also putting in standby and recording something 22.30 to 00.30, in morning box (07.00) had froze with OSD at 1.37.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

which exact image build are you using and do you have any debug logs from these incidents that you can upload. also what are your fan settings ?.

Build 739, but same on 734 and 735.


Fans are default settings

No debug logs, I am sure I can reproduce it so how would I get these?

Menu>System>Setup>Logs>Red Button is the location for your logs, they will be here by default when you hit certain problems.

Hi dont get mad.are you sure you are using solo2 and not solo image.here is vix download page for solo2

Hah, won't get bad - enjoy the tinkering but determined want to stick with Vix if I can (new to this)

Afraid can't get to logs through menu as when freezes only way I can get remote to respond again is by reflashing (it does to openvix screen)

Have you tried other images ie openpli as a test to see if it is firmware related.?
also format your usb stick and load new image from vix site and try again.
you are copying the correct folder yes..VUplus folder with solo2 folder inside so a folder in a folder.??to usb.

Re: firmware is that enclosed with openvix or done seperate. When first got it I flashed with official update first then openvix (code.vuplus.com I think) any drivers firmware etc I could ensure I'm on otherwise?

Was going to try another image tonight anyway to test - black hole was othe big one or openpli is better?

Images on the site you went to are basic.you may have been flashing 1.6 instead of 2.1 and or incorrect repository and drivers...Dont go there.
use link and download and flash this image.please get stuff here and make sure it is for your box.

I would also suggest a read of some tutorials if you can find them as they are a great help.
As for images VIX is as far as i am concerned the best Enigma 2 image ever made but others will differ it is your choice.
Do try out others and if you have your box all set up running nice then do a FULL back up so you can flash it back if you are going to experiment.

Yea used that link to download images. Had a good read last week and enjoyed tinkering. Got set up EPG/cccam/ABM and picon set up just how I like it but unfortunately hard freezing with flash only way to get box working again frustrating. Cheers for the info guys. Have also emailed support as bought it here, hopefully it's not box itself but seem not to be a common problem with vix

as pointed out earlier we really really need some debug logs from the times these incidents happened, you can set the save location for the logs to a external USB stick if needed so that when the box does lock up and needs to be reflashed the logs are not deleted and can easily be retrieved from the USB stick.

As above if you want to find out what is happening then post logs..support will expect the same..
it is the only way to find out what's truly going on.

Awoke to box again unresponsive to the remote (on as displayed Vu Solo on OSD) but black screen. Hard reset and openvix wallpaper comes up but thats. Strangely no new logs were created! I am at a loss now...

With no logs etc..I really think its time for someone in the know to have a look at your VU.If you are flashing latest and correct images and you are 100% sure it is not image related and still malfunctioning then its time i am afraid.

I would flash the box with http://www.world-of-satellite.com/enigma2/openvix/index.php?dir=Vu%2BSolo2/&file=openvix-3.0.740-vusolo2_usb.zip and only install
1- CCcam from http://www.world-of-satellite.com/enigma2/openvix/index.php?dir=ViX-Softcams/&file=enigma2-plugin-cams-cccam.2.3.0_1.0_mipsel.ipk (if you're using a smartcard that is; if you're only into FTA services you can omit this);
2- a settingslist from the feeds or use the build-in ABM

and of course set your tuner config and other settings correct. Also enable debuglogs and reboot after doing so.

Nothing else and see how you go from there.

As above my box and froze again last night - had done well with 48 hrs free. Box stuck in standby with OSD 20/09/2013 3.50(am).

It was flashed to build 740 and I followed the following instructions: fresh install, no backups or timers. CCcam, ABM and openEPG only setup. Open EPG is the only timer (4.00) and set to HDD. HDD was initialised on the fresh flash.

The log file was 391mb so I have attached the last bit of "code". The log files goes on much longer but its just the following or similar for 290mb!
