On the vu+ i have a few movies stored on hard drive and would like to move them to a usb stick. Can this be done?

yes but if it's a large file such as a HD movie you will need to format the stick to NTFS or a linux format as FAT32 can not handle files larger than 4GB.

you can use the move option in the media player to move files from one location to another or even from one receiver to another when networked together.

i have formatted the usb stick can i do this from the vu+ control box

you can if you want but it's faster and easier to just go into the media player and use the move option, and it's all done via the receiver without the need for a PC / laptop.

struggling a bit here i dont normally use media player so have installed it and can see the movie i want to transfer but no button for moving the file?

You dont need to install the media player it's built into the image by default.

No there is a option in the media player to move recordings, I have used it several times to move recordings amongst my various boxes over my network.
