Hello all,
I have VU+ solo running vix, all was well and operational untill i did a software update from online to try rid my aspect ratio of blurred lines at side of screen.
Now my Tv won't see output from box. grren power LED is on and i have tried different cables and reset button but still nothing.
Hdmi cables proved functioning on other devices.
It must be doing something as green LED ok.
any pointers folks i'd greatly appreciate them.

Thanks

First question and please dont be offended, also please be honest.

Is the receiver genuine or a clone, I ask because the Vu+ hardware drivers contain anti clone measures and if your is a clone i'd rather not waste my time or yours chasing after other possible problems.

if it's genuine have you tried flashing another image ? go to www.openvix.co.uk for the latest stable releases.

Thanks for your honesty, online purchase setup, im prepared to flas etc on my own, it does respond "LEd flashing" with remote. Ive no scart cables to see if any other output works.
How can i tell if its clone or not?

Take a picture of the back and internal and should be able to tell.

I'm sorry but we cant help with that kind of thing here, we can help you setup the receiver with a legitimate card and subscription but not with illegal methods of receiving channels, have you contacted the person you purchased the receiver from ?

You probably still have ftp access.
Back up your cams /usr/softcams to your PC.
Don't forget the config files, if the cam is cccam, it'll be /etc/Cccam.cfg

Then after reflashing, you can restore them easily.

£200 it was checked

Whats the best way to connect? , apologies for silly questions

Larry-G
10-09-13, 20:16
There are no silly questions mate, if you can still gain access via a FTP client then do that and do as judge says.

geoffb377
10-09-13, 20:18
whats best ftp client to use? ip address etc?

judge
10-09-13, 20:24
We're not going to be able to tell you the IP of the box, if you don't know it you're either going to have to scan your network or look at your routers web interface.
As for FTP client, it's down to personal choice, I use filezilla

https://filezilla-project.org/

Stanman

It looks like its genuine.

10-09-13, 20:35
Does it> had to remove tamper stickers etc so there goes my warranty lol

Stanman
10-09-13, 20:36
Why would you void it by removing the covers, its designed to be opened up

Stanman
10-09-13, 20:36
ALso ,moved the thread as its in SOLO2

10-09-13, 20:37
What stickers did you have to tamper?

geoffb377
10-09-13, 20:43
a gold void tamper seal and a paper one on side of screw
network card looks ok, but slow polling by the looks of it
used to show up on my boxee box , nothing there now, also no device in bthub manager
guess ill lose all my ccccam data and cfg files if i flash if no comms

judge

Yes, you will lose cams/configs/settings/timers & so on by flashing.
Did you do an online update recently? if so, it would have created a back-up for you.

geoffb377
10-09-13, 21:01
yes thats what caused the issues, updated software on line and it wont boot to splash screen or give output?
i flashed from usb as couldnt connect ftp or see it on network
looks as thought is flashing ok , according to posts, correct led phases etc, but still no display?

Flash an older build from http://www.openvix.co.uk/index.php?dir=Vu%2BSolo/ & let us know if that works.

geoffb377

geoffb377
10-09-13, 21:33
nothing, all looks ok after flash led status etc, just no hdmi out?

Larry-G
10-09-13, 21:45
Try a scart cable if you have one and see if you get video output that way, it's possible your HDMI port failed albeit unlikely.

Try an older build, not sure what build the VU drivers were updated in.
Also, have you a scart cable to check output with?

geoffb377
10-09-13, 21:50
ok gents i will do, thanks for all the help so far

Larry-G
10-09-13, 21:54
Do you know which image build it was on prior to the update ?,

go here http://www.openvix.co.uk/index.php?dir=Vu%2BSolo/ and try several builds make note of the build numbers you try and the results and let us know how you get on.

We're going around in circles here...
Try an older build as suggested, Even build 600, oldest available on http://www.openvix.co.uk/index.php?dir=Vu%2BSolo/ would do.
Don't restore anything, let us know if it works.
If not, try a scart cable & let us know if that works.

Larry-G
10-09-13, 23:32
Try going further back in the ViX builds to say 688 - 700 and see if those versions load, if it does then it's the drivers that are causing you issues.

geoffb377
10-09-13, 23:32
tried 702, as its had most D/L but still no joy?
BH worked just seems bizarre or im doing something stooopid

geoffb377
11-09-13, 12:25
ok 600 works , can i recover earlier backups from previous issue?
this all started on from an online download from vix itself.

Hi Mate

ok if you managed to get back image in the setup did you get any option to restore settings if so files you need to look at are

user/softcam your main CCcam bin

Var/etc for the other 4 CCcam files which includes your .cfg the one that allows you connection to whoever it was

and make sure you have var/keys data too

make sure you update to piror build that crashed your box ... nobody has said its a clone so prob just a glitch one can hope in the install biggest problem with these boxes is like computers when they hang updating people think somethings wrong and start to tinker pulling plugs etc you have to let them do there thing

I'm sorry to hear that your yet another person who has been duped into buying a clone, i hope you can understand our stance towards clones and why we cant offer support for them.
