Due to the recent and well documented driver issues with all current Technomate OE Linux receivers, and the time that has lapsed without a satisfactory and stable fix being released, we have decided to make a announcement with regards as to why we have NOT committed these latest drivers into the ViX image.

We initially started testing some drivers and a new kernel on 21/08/13, unfortunately on 25/08/13 we had to stop testing due to issues we discovered with the supplied kernel, ViX uses its own kernel configuration and the one being supplied did not contain the kernel options that ViX uses. Technomate where made aware of this issue and we asked for links to their sources so a ViX beta image could be built and tested for stability prior to public release, this request went unheeded for five days until we received the following email, In the early hours of 30/08/13.

Good morning.

This drivers/kernal has been tested for last 9 days fully .
ok to go public. for all models .

once we received the requested drivers and Linux sources yesterday ( 30.08.2013 ) we built a series of Beta images for stability testing, but had to cease testing because of a serious kernel crash that we discovered. Technomate declared the driver and kernel pack fit for release, sadly this is not the case.

Technomate have now released a new 4D image which claims to fix most of the issues seen of late, while this may be the case for the 4D image the same drivers and kernel when used with the ViX image will cause serious kernel crashes. For the time being builds will carry on as they have been, but without this latest driver and kernel combo, there may come a time that support will need to cease unless issues are fixed.

We deeply regret that this is the case but it is something that we have no control over.

Finally we have some good news.

Lypsync issues, multi-recording issues and a few other bugs have been fixed in drivers 03/09/13, ViX Build 734.

There are still a few outstanding bugs, hopefully should be fixed soon, see list below for known bugs:

1) During standby VFD icons should turn off. All that should remain are date, time and standby icon if applicable.
2) If Fan is set to off in standby an override should to in place to turn on Fan when doing timer recordings.
3) End of start up wizard when Menu appears, splash screen does not appear, just black screen when using 1080i.
4) First boot screen does not appear centered. Flash with ViX image, openvix log is need top of screen instead of centered how it should be. All other supported model display centered boot splash screen.

DUE TO BUG 2 ABOVE IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO SET YOUR FAN ON IN STANDBY IF YOU PLAN TO SET RECORDINGS WHILST YOUR UNIT IS IN STANDBY.
