vlc stream plugin

alright guys.....im having trouble trying to connect my laptop with my vu solo. everytime I try to access the vlc plugin I get a error code and wont let me access the files or directory. now I used a tutorial and did everything to the T but still get the error. ive allowed access through the firewall, put my ip address in, using a old version of VLC, changed the path but still im getting no further afield

any help
