If you are installing it inside the box I myself use a western digital caviar green working a treat and recommended for PVR installations
Inside\outside i don't care as long as it work okay, at the moment using an old 2.5" laptop drive with a usb\pata adaptor on a 6800HD and it works fine except for sound on HD channels stuttering(thats another story)
Should say it will be housed in a cabinet but has good airflow

Im runing Seagate here and just works good :-)
Seagate Barracudaź 1TB SATA 6Gb/s (SATA 3.0), 64MB Cache, 7200RPM, 3.5"
but if you can add an 2,5" this will be better as it will run smoother and cooler
cheers

Have used a Hitachi 2.5in 750GB for 2 years and then upgraded to a WD AV-GP 2TB drive (WD20EURS).
Both worked flawlessly, handled multiple simultaneous recordings with no problems on playback either, both local and remotely over nfs.
