accessing VU+ via internet

Hi, i am trying to access my box via the web interface. What port would it be on as i know my external ip address.

it should be port 80 unless u change it on the box
to access the box u need to forward the port (80) to the ip of ur box

open plugins screen, choose webinterface and there u can change the port

If you don't have another webserver (or anything else responding to port 80) on your LAN, you can leave it at 80 in the Vu+. The port-forwarding mentioned happens in your router, not the Vu+.
