View Full Version : totally a general question....
What does a single solid white line mean?
The council has to painted these lines in my street which isnt wide enough for 2 cars side by side nor can you overtake and its a deadend at bottom. Theyre running down the road about a foot away from kerb.
Looked on google and I onlly come up with solid white lines on MAIN roads.

Found this about lines.

Not sure, but I've seen some solid white lines usually when going under a bridge, and they are trying to force only one vehicle to pass through at any one time. Since you say they are approx a foot away from the kerb, sounds like it could be the same?!

I work on the roads and i am pretty sure If only 1ft away from the curb solid white Line means no parking at any time of day.
Probably an easier option, phone up your local council and ask them, lol. They can tell you what it means and why they painted them on

They just mark the edge of the road, normally when there is no kerb
