Guys I'm on vix build 683 on solo2, I see new build 685 is available, is it safe to do an online backup or do I need to do a full usb install incase there is a kernel change?

Also where can I find the info on what has been changed in the new build, I assume there is a doc knocking about somewhere on this site listing the new changes, Cheers

builds 683 and 685 are on the same kernel so there is nothing to worry about there, now providing you left the default settings in place, your receiver should create a settings backup as part of the update process. if something goes wrong during the update you simply reinstall the image and use that backup to get back to where you are now.

for changelogs you have multiple options.

1. from the receiver it self in the software update section.
2. from this forum here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?21343-OpenViX-3-0-updates-and-changelogs
3. from the dedicated log feeds here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/enigma2/feeds/3.0/oe-git.log and here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/enigma2/feeds/3.0/e2-git.log

I've just attempted the online update (from 683 to 687?) and my Solo2 is now stuck on "starting..."

Seems I'll have to reload an old backup :(

Where did you get 687 from?

685 seems to be the latest build.

I may be mistaken but I think that's what it said in the change-log of the on-line update.

685 is the current stable release, there may are no other builds out yet as far as I know.

Ok now I see image 692 is out, how do i check if it needs a usb install because of the kernel change or is safe to do on online backup?

Also I'm sure there was a button on remote to bring up the timer of whats scheduled to record? does anyone know which button it is?

The kernel update was a good few builds ago, as you originally started this thread for build 683 to 685 you will already be on the newer kernel so dont have to worry about that. I have always try a online update and a full fresh flash on my solo2 with each update and have not had a single issue with either method for weeks, even if there was one a simple reflash with a settings or image backup would sort that out.

as to your second question, hit the green button to pull up the timers list.

Hi Phoenix thanks for coming back, I have now updated and all works fine.

With regards to the green button, it does not do anything, before the update and after the update too, the other coloured buttons work fine. Is there a configuration settings somewhere to set up the coloured buttons?
