how you do mean restore to an earlier point?

Were you doing a settings backup or flashing an earlier image, if the latter try flashing it again

I done an image back up with vix build 649 I think, I tried to restore it to that point then every thing cut off (not the vu fault was a power cut to whole house) and when I turned tv back on nothing the green light is on the front. iv never flashed a vu before either

Flashing should be your first stop so.
It really is easy (when you know what you're doing)...
Grab the latest image for your box from http://openvix.co.uk
pheonix has dome some great tutorials for flashing most boxes, have a search & you should have it up & running again in no time... hopefully.

found this is this the way to do the flash

When you download a new USB image file you may find the folder names in the ZIP/RAR archive are incorrectly labeled.

So what you need to do is make a folder on your USB pen drive called vuplus

Then inside the vuplus folder you make another folder called solo

So now you should have a folder in on your PEN drive root like this

vuplus/solo

Copy the following USB Image files from the ZIP/RAR achive to the vuplus/solo folder on your PEN Drive.

boot_cfe_auto.jffs2
kernel_cfe_auto.bin
root_cfe_auto.jffs2

Power Off Solo
Insert USB Pen Drive in the front USB socket.
Power on Solo

The display window will show an orange/red LED constantly lit.
This means it's reading the data from the USB Pen into the buffer.

Then...

The display window will show the orange/red LED flashing.
This means it's now flashing the data to the receiver.

Wait until the LED changes to a Green Flashing LED.

When Green LED is flashing you can now safely power off the receiver and remove the USB Pen Drive.

Now Power on and wait for the receiver to boot.

So, you're up and running again on the solo?
The traffic light leds can be confusing when not all boxes use the same procedure & don't have a VFD/on screen display to tell you what's happening.
But, if your Solo is working again, perfect. Next time should be a lot easier as you know what to expect/do.

Sorry, thought you had it working again from previous post.

Try a different USB stick & use bootloader first then image from http://openvix.co.uk.

Saying that, losing power during a flash can be known to trash a box, never experienced it myself though.
Thers's a USB HP format tool in the downloads section, maybe worth trying that too for your USB stick.
