All of a sudden (without any changes made by me) the CrossEPG downloader has stopped connecting. it just sits on "starting downloader" I can exit and get back to channels but the downloader never connects. Any suggestions ? Anybody else getting this error?

Cheers
Dave

What EPG sources are you using & have you changed channel listings recently?

You really shouldn't need to use a swap file even on the Solo for just 28.2, however using it & it now working suggests a memory issue.
Have you other plugins installed that may be hogging memory?
Or maybe delete all EPG data from the box & start a fresh download.

I don't agree: Cross is a very memory hungry process, and for a small box like the Solo even reading only 28.2E can be too much. Activating a SWAP-file usually fixes this.

Just something I have found is that if Crossepg fails/stops for any reason, it does not seem to release memory and you will get odd problems.
Box will work, but eventually (a few days) you will goto do something and it will just restart, and of course the original problem will be cleared.
