I am running vix image build 513 i have never updated b4 do i have to do so via usb or am i able to do so online ,also do i have to back image up 1st or is it a case of reflash then go through initial setup having to reload softcam epg bouquet ect via ftp would be gateful for any advice i have read lots of stickies but am just trying to save my self a little pain

as your on a older build it would be recommended that you reflash the receiver rather than use the online update method. you can make a full settings backup that you can restore to your new image once the reflash is completed.

The below tutorials should help.
one shows how to make a full image backup ( making a settings backup is the same but you use the backup manager rather than the image manager ), the other shows you how to flash the image.
