iv installed the latest vix image on my vu solo, all now working fine just one slight problem. When I press menu it pops up but some of the text at the start of the options is hidden, like the menu is to big on the screen.

Google your TV make and model along with the term overscan. you need to turn overscan off from the TV, if thats not possible and as a last resort you can adjust the OSD via the image but i highly recommend you disable overscan from the TV side.

i think but not 100% sure you can adjust that using the menu, setup, system, user, interface options, position set up.

thing is tho other images don't do it, i.e black hole etc.

Now that we have HD Tv it is better to show the full image without scaling. The tv set only needs to be adjusted once.

Because they include buffers in the skin to Hide overscan rather than allowing the user to deal with it, we on the other hand only provide HD skins and dont believe in hiding overscan from the user.

is something that affects the TV it self and not the receiver and has been around since TV's were invented. with overscan active on the TV you are loosing a good portion of the viewing area of your TV picture on all devices not just the receiver.

google overscan for more details.

See

for a good explanation.

Previously didn't need to adjust OSD as it was fine but from build 300 on wards I had to adjust the OSD for my LG Plasma. However, recently found that the viewing should be set to Just Scale and not 16:9 which is weird but it sorted the issue.

Also, now that I have it on Just Scale, which is basically overscan off for LG TVs, the picture quality is better than before. Any ideas why?

Manufacturers use all kinds of strange names, just to avoid the word 'overscan'. On one of my Sony's it's called '+1'; makes sense, doesn't it :D
