How can I get the epg to show HD bbc1 2 and itv 3 etc?

That depends on how your bouquets or channel lists are setup. some have a HD swap option that places all of the HD channels into their SD counterparts EPG slots, the inbuilt ABM plugin also has this option.

Have a read of this tutorial, it is not finished yet ( i really do need to get the time to sit down and polish this one off ) but will give you a idea on how to set things up.
