I've had to backtrack to version 668 as all images after this version I can't watch any mp4 files in the movie player. Can somebody take a look at what may have broke it?

I've provided a test mp4 file for you to test. It only plays on software build 668 or earlier. It doesn't play at all on later versions.
download hd mp4 test file (http://www.thecaretaker.myzen.co.uk/hd.zip)

works perfectly fine here on my Ultimo running build 678.

Thank you for doing that. I'll do an update from 668 to 678 and see if it works.

No, still no joy with 678. I'll just have to convert all my mp4's to avi's.

could be something you have installed at some point, try a fresh install of the image and try again.

Five out of the seven receivers i have were online updated from build 668 to 678 and these all play mp4 files just fine, same as the two i fresh flashed to build 678, have you installed any plugins either from the plugins server or manually that may have caused this ??.

I have do this workaround in telnet: opkg install gst-plugins-good-isomp4 --force-reinstall

Now mp4 is OK.

Problem with Mp4 on my vu+duo also. Seems like a strange problem. Watched a file a few days ago and now just blank screen when I try to play same file. Also now cannot play new files. Not 100% sure problem didn't preceed update to build 678. Apologies for lack of actionable details but I'm trying to troubleshoot.

Edit--just had a crash when setting a timer. System out of space. MP4 issue is probably a symptom of a bigger problem. I must check the files sitting in flash. Possibly some crap there after forced reboots.

unfortunately install from USB (I've only installed Metrix plugin) did a trick with mp4 but only for a half day, now mp4 won't work. My little daughter is very sad because she can't watch Curious George:( I will back to 668 build.
Maybe it will be some idea for looking a problem. I've watched avi, then stopped, then start this avi from last scene/time and there wasn't sound just picture and after this mp4 won't work.

Yes - I am experiencing the exact same thing on my VU+ duo. I thought that with the fix for a corrupted file that was filling up my internal flash storage, (see this thread (http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?29137-Memory-Leak-Build-678)) that the MP4 problem would be solved also but unfortunately MP4 video playback still does not work.

Edit - just to confirm - earliest occurrence of this issue for me was on build 668. I am now on 678 and it still happens.
