White Line on top of screen

Does anyone else find on some of the older programs/films etc in SD that you sometimes get a white dotted line on top of the screen. about half way across from left hand side?

Took image but does not show it too clear.. Cant find a setting to move it any clues?26179

found if i turn on picture overscan on tv settings it goes but this changes other aspects. Is there another way?

no not without affecting the aspect ratio of other things. This is what overscan was originally created for.

If you select scart in AV settings, I find this happening. Try changing the av settings and select hdmi. Or try position setup.

ah well.. its only on some channels etc... will bear with it rather than turn on overscan

That is only on some channels. And most of the times only on some events.
It's an indication of careless video editing on the side of the contents provider.

And indeed: better accept that then turning on overscan.
