Here's a copy of some feedback I sent to world of sat:

I thought I'd better let you have some feedback on the Venton HD2 I bought
last week.
Ordered late Thursday, and delivered before 11am Friday. Nice work!
I didn't get chance to play with the box until Saturday afternoon, but had
soon fitted my own 3.5 1Tb hard drive in it, and booted it up. The box set
off, and did it's thing, automatically detecting the drive, and setting the
recording paths etc. After that, it was just the usual wait while the box
scans for services, and then a little while longer while it download the epg
which is built in as default. It didn't take long.
The only thing I had to do, was upload cccam, as it can't be installed from
the plugin manager. Again, a minor problem.
Apart from that, the box is up running, and impressing me greatly!
I have diddled with a few settings, just to personalise it, but essentially,
the box works perfectly as it is.
The epg is clear, and intuitive, so much so, that my wife has worked out how
to use the box, and now my only regret is I didn't get the HD3 for the extra
tuner! She will fill that terrabyte soon I'm sure ?
Thanks very much for the recommendation, and quick service. It is a box I
would, and already have recommended to others.
I'll point them in your direction.

To any of you considering this box, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
It is quick, very easy to use with the VIX image, and takes almost no setting up.
For the price, I doubt it could be beaten.
Just for the record, I currently own a DM500HD, 2x DM500, and a technomate TM5402.

Balls, can't edit the typo in the title !

The main thing is your happy with your new receiver, and many thanks for the feedback, I'm sure the sponsor will be delighted to receive such feedback.

Thanks Rob ;)

I'm not sure which image? As far as I'm aware, it was flashed on Thursday afternoon, so a recent one? I'll check later for you.
Having spent another evening using it, I'm still impressed, and perhaps more relevant, so is Mrs Philthy. She likes it ! She finds it "easy to use", so that's a hard drive full of Corrie then

Well: you said

So I take it you are using ViX then?

I presume he means he had to load CCcam as the sponsor for legal reasons wont load cams to the images he flashes to the boxes he sells, for those same legal reasons we dont carry cams via the plugin feeds either. That said it's a very easy process to load CCcam onto the receiver same as with all other E2 boxes.

Hello guys,
I would have another question.
In my old decoder a unixbox hd1 (with x is not an error) I had the opportunity to enter a buffer to see the encrypted channels (ie since my adsl is not very good, the buffer will memorize the last few seconds and then I saw the programs with a few seconds delay, but without frying. Unibox in hd2 you can do something like that? If I look at the channels with the HD2 signal jumps often, while with the old one almost never.
thanks in advance

I too have one of these boxes that originally, I really liked but many niggly wee problems.

Bought from sponsor 2-3 months ago. I have not been as lucky as OP. The box was replaced by sponsor for an HD1 which had a factory fault. The HD2 is potentially a good box but not a patch on VU Duo which I would have bought to compliment my other Vu Duo but for remotes clashing rather than the buying the Venton.

I have negative pictures when watching / recording any SD channels. Yes, only SD...HD is perfect.
It constantly needs Mgcamd re-started.
It refuses to start on startup channel no matter how many times I set it.
Vix 3.0...latest.

Picture and sound are good when it's working.

If you are thinking of one of these boxes....don't. Pay extra for a VU. I certainly wish I had.

Regards

You can change the remote control code on the newer remotes.

I did ask sponsor if I could buy another vu Duo but he said remotes would clash. I would either have to buy another make or a newer Vu.
Do you feel the remote codes for the Vu Duo could have been changed ?

Larry-G
29-10-13, 15:47
I know they can be changed on the solo2, uno and ultimo. never tried with the Duo as it was released way before the new remotes were released so if the sponsor says it's not possible on the Duo then he's rite.

Both the DUO & Solo have a fixed setting to 'code 1'. All the other VU's can change the R/C-code.

I to have this box and I'm very impressed with. 5* for build and quality.
Please can someone tell me if they have Mgcamd 1.5 or 1.8 working on it as I haven't manage to get it working. CCcam works fine but on certain channels the picture freezes and have been told that mgcamd with stop the freezing. Does anyone know what settings are required for the mfg_cfg? I have tried B parameter to 00 and 06 but no success. I'm running the latest VIX image openvix-3.0.793.
