cant get plugins

hi im tryin to learn how to work this box (vu+solo) getting slowly use to it im trying to get on demand plugin im doin it through plugins/green/extensions on demand click yes and comes up instaling enigma2 ect to root couple more lines of info and fails to download enigma2....ect perhaps you need to run opkg update whats this? its done it when I tried vlc player also. iv got crossepg media scanner openwebif picture player that came with box

What exact image build are you running.

Menu > information > about.

That's a slightly older build now, try updating your image to a newer build and then try to download the plugins again.

will I do it throgh vix/image manager/downloads pick the 656 and download and that wont change mess up the way it is now

why not just go to Menu -> Setup -> Software Update.
What box are you using?

you can download the image through the image manager and flash it via a USB stick ( in build 664 you can flash directly from the image manager ), if you have made a settings backup you simply restore this to the receiver after flashing it to restore your plugins and settings etc.

Just do an online update for now, explained above.

im not sure I never set it up it was a friend of a friend how would I go about doing that then

I done a restart then left on all nite the red on info bar is now green and I got vlc player still can't get on demand

Have you an older version installed that you need to remove?
what build are you using now?

Why don't you try window telnet connect to box then type in (opkg update) this solved the same problem for me the other week
