Does anyone know how to bring these boxes back to life? there's a single red light on the front, the damage was done while flashing a new bootloader.

I've searched a lot of forums but can't find any info, surely someone knows of a link to a tutorial.

Thanks

As far as I'm aware you can use a j-tag to repair some bootloader problems but I'm not aware if the j-tag is available to buy outside of authorised resellers.

Are you saying i'll have to send it back to the dealer for repairs?

Some repairs require specialist equipment and therefore can only be carried out by those with such equipment, if yours is a corrupted bootloader you will need a j-tag and I'm not sure if there is a j-tag commercially available for these receivers.

Hello,

Same problem with my GB quad after first install. This sat decoder is great but this problem is shit ! I return my box at the dealer after two days
No problem after. Now I'am afraid for this manipulation. I keep VIX image (is great and stable) and I don't test other firmwares :(

I'm returning mine to the dealer this morning too. I agree they're a great box and this is a major problem with them, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before there's a program that will allow you to bring it back to life with a connection via the rs232 port.

Bootloaders are always a sticky area as they are basically bios updates, when bootloader updates go wrong its never good for the receiver.

There is a j-tag solution available for the Vu range although im not sure if the same would work on the Gigablue.

GIGABLUE is not professional on this subject ! (nothing on their Internet site and the official forum)
When they sell this sat-decoder more of 300 euros, he must work without problem even if we change firmware. They should envisage at the very least a procedure of restoration without being to make to pass by repair shops :( The serial port being rare on PC its use by JTAG is not top !
I had an DREAMBOX dm7000s before and I changed the firmware a lot of times without this type of problem. I used the multiboot to avoid installation of firmware by flash. What is the best multiboot plugin working on GB quad ?

Bricefag, I agree gigablue should be making this infomation more freely available to the end user, but their official resellers offer great after sales service.

I sent my box back to the dealer for repairs which took about 10 days, very reasonable timescale. I was very happy with the support I received from them, I was kept in the loop via email every other day and their return service was next day, just in time for the weekend! :D
