i took the working external HDD from my vu+uno because i fitted one internally.
thought i would try using the external on my pc.
device driver was installed ok but the disk doesnt show up in MY COMPUTER.
i went into DISK MANAGEMENT where it is showing but has no drive letter.
right click shows assign drive letter etc, but the options are greyed out.
i assume it may have something to do with the disk formatted to ext3/4 by the uno but i'm at a loss on how to change the format ( if format is the issue)
any help appreciated.

Have a look at this.

i just this minute sorted it out.
one option i did have was to DELETE VOLUME.
i did that and then you get options to use the drive via a wizard that allows you to format it.
the thing is, as i was clicking through the wizard i recalled doing it a few years ago, the grey matter doesn't seem to compute as well these days :)
thanks for the reply anyway, there is some useful info in there.
