View Full Version : [ViX_Misc] ViX Backup manager not working !!.

nowbody

i tryed several times to flash a backuped image. but it always fails. I used "confi" - ViX for backup image. after that i copy the "backup" to a usb-drive. Flashing works, but after flashing the solo2 hangs by "Starting".
now i used "enigma2-plugin-extensions-backupsuite_11.8_mips32el" and this works fine.

backuosuite 12.0 works fine too...
addind to onlineupdate would be nice... :)

Backupsuite is a bit pointless in the ViX image as there is a custom made and highly customized set of backup and image backup managers built rite into the image by default, loading a third party backup manager can cause problems with these built in plugins.

i have not used a third party backup before. tha problem was only with buildin image backup.

Kernel backup size:
buildin backup: 7.168KB <- works not
pedro´s backupsuite :7.040KB <- works

without debug logs we really cant help as we would just be guessing as to your problem.

I have moved your posts out of the solo2 image discussion thread as that is not the correct place to be seeking help and your posts are likely to get lost in the rabble.

flashing backup image is not working.
i want to flash a backupimage (build with vix build-in backuptool). after restart the solo2 hangs by "starting".
i tried several times, but nothing changes.

after this fail i tested pedro´s backupsuit and this works without a problem.

i had have a look at kernel filesizes:
buildin backup: 7.168KB <- works not
pedro´s backupsuite :7.040KB <- works

there is no error when backing up the image with vix-tool. also there is no logfile on the hdd.

at same time i made a new one...
can you merge it?

i dont know if this is a "vu" problem in general. possibly this is only a solo2 problem...

still no idea why you are having problems with this, Solo2, build 647 backup images working perfectly here.

There very different pieces of software, one is specifically developed, maintained and updated for the ViX image the other is a "jack of all trades" so to speak. and as i said earlier the backup suite is not fully ViX compatible and thus may cause issues.

also something to consider, the last time i tested backup suite it created another backup to the HDD of my receiver and it is known that a solo2 will try to flash any backup it detects even if from a internal HDD. so look on your HDD and check there are none saved there as it may be bypassing your USB stick and loading or trying to load one from the HDD instead.

making backups only with disconnected usb-drive.
for restoring is always use the backup in the solo2´s hdd, fore example: imagebackups\vusolo2-3.0.647-20130407_120139

Try removing all those backups from the receiver so that it cant try to load them when your trying to flash from the USB stick. also you say USB drive do you mean USB HDD or a USB stick / pen ??. and have you tried multiple USB sticks to rule out a faulty one ??.

and in that back-up folder "vusolo2-3.0.647-20130407_120139" you have a vuplus directory, are you coping that to the root of your USB stick?
also, not much point in uploading a back-up that you know doesn't work.
Try a fresh flash of build 643 (latest available on http://www.world-of-satellite.com/enigma2/openvix/index.php?dir=Vu%2BSolo2/), create a backup & let us know if you are still having the same issue restoring it.

There is definitely some thing wrong with your backups as i tried to flash the 632 build version and the receiver did not even detect it on the USB stick it just booted into the existing image.

second try i replaced the kernel_cfe_auto from yours with one from my backup, this time the receiver flashed but would not boot up, just sat there with starting on the VFD ( sorry but i dont have a working Null modem cable to generate a bootlog ).

any way i re-flashed the receiver with my own backup made on build 647 and it flashed just fine. so not sure whats going wrong for you but mine creates fully functioning image backups just fine with the inbuilt image manager.

p.s the file size from my kernel_cfe_auto file is identical to your's.

Try changing the backup location to a USB stick and see if that makes a difference. For reference all my backups are always saved to a mounted USB stick.

yes andy has just put a lot of work into the image manager so that it allows flashing directly from compressed .zip archives and as a result it creates backups in .zipped archives too.
