Hi, just got VU+Duo box and it has VIX Image 3.0
How do I update this?
When I try to select software update it says `Background checks underway' I have tried all day but the message is the same.

What build version you running?
Menu-information-about on remote

Latest stable one is 632

If you are not on that, probably best to download it from www.openvix.co.uk

Then reflash using usb.

Version 3.0
How do you reflash?

Version 3.0 but what build???

For flash goto where I said click on vu duo, then click on the build version 632. This will download a compressed version of the image. Unzip it using winrar/ or similar. Format a usb to fat32. Place the uncompressed file directly to the root of the usb. Do not alter the folder structure. So that the vu plus folder is at the root of the stick. Turn off duo at the back, remove all usb from box, if any. Insert your usb with files on. Switch box on follow instructions on front of box.........hey presto you're done.

Obviously going off the date, you're build is really really old. So I'd flash.

What satellites are you using? You need to configure epg settings.

Is it a fixed dish or do you look at multiple satellites?

I use crossepg but only on a fixed dish. 28.2e

To configure,
Menu-setup-system-Epg

Then settings. Choose your saving location, mine is hdd.exit settings
Cursor down to cross epg, press ok.
Go into configure, I have mine set at
No
Once a day
07:05am
Yes
Yes

You now need to choose your epg provider, I use open tv, but not sure if you can. If you can go in there tick the satellites you use. Then exit. If you can't then I guess you need to use rytec or xmltv so go into one of them tick you're providers.
Once your provider are selected save and exit. Cursor down to"download now" press ok.

You're epg should start to download.

Hi

Thanks for your help on this.

I have done all that ok, I am getting all of the normal channels (BBC etc) but not getting any of the Sky channels for some reason?

I have a Sky dish mounted on the wall

Do you have a sky subscription?
If so, have you installed and activated you're softcam, and .cfg file.

.....seems a silly question, but it has been known

mickyblueys

That's why you not getting sky channels.
You need to get a subscription, whether it be legitimate through sky. Or by another means which I'm not allowed to talk about on this forum.

Cyril

For now you need to set up you're bouquet (channel pack) so you can watch as many free channels as possible. Go into menu-setup-service searching
Auto bouquets maker

Set this up for you're tv region and scan this will find all available channels including freeSat if you set it up to.

You need to reinstall you're softcam, most probably cccam version 2.2.1 you can get it from openvix again in the softcam section

Would I then save that onto USB and then follow same process at the back of the box?

mickyblueys
01-04-13, 13:30
Because you are on a recent build, the easiest way to load softcam is to extract the.ipk file to root of usb again, and plug it into box again, but this time while box and tv is on, but not in a menu it has be on live tv. It should then recognize the usb automatically and ask to install the .ipk file.

You will then need to setup a .cfg file, but can't really go into that. Sorry.

ok, will do that.

I assume the .cfg is the bit my mate does, so hopefully he can talk me thru it

This is very very close to breaching the forum rules, please seek help from your friend, we can not and will not aid in obtaining pay tv channels illegally.
