Crashed Box Urgent help Required

Hello.
I recorded the F1 from early this morning and like always when I try to play a recording the Vix image comes up in the left hand side whilst trying to fast forward the recording. When this happens the recording will not come off fast forwarding or play or pause no matter what is pressed.
The difference this time is the box crashed and said it needed to shutdown in 10 seconds.
Now the box just repeatedly goes around the same process of trying to load and restart, however the box keeps saying it has encountered a software problem and will try a restart.

Help appreciated please.

For some reason the receiver has entered into a Enigma bootloop.

You would need to reflash the image to recover it but thats a very easy thing to do. on the plus side you should still have full Telnet and FTP access, so you can FTP into the receiver and retrieve any important files, if possible please retrieve a few of the generated crash logs as this will greatly aid us in trying to find out exactly why your receiver crashed.

you would need to login to the box via a FTP session then navigate to where ever you's logs are saved to, this is /home/root/logs by default.

First thing i'd try is update the box to the latest stable image which is currently build 362 from www.openvix.co.uk then set it up fresh and see if that gives you similar problems, if it does we can start the process of trying to find out why.

also looking at your log it's giving a disk full error so maybe it is either full or it lost it's mount point ?. check the flash and see if there are any recordings or partial recording in there and if there are remove them.

yup and thats another reason we recommend not to set EPG to the internal flash.

I wanted to update you on the latest regarding my post. I took the recordings off the hard drive and rebooted the box and it has loaded now and working, without any recordings on. I will try a recording later.

are you sure they were on the HDD it self and not the Flash ?, as the flash being full would indeed cause the problem you had, the HDD being full should not cause a bootloop just prevent you from recording any thing to it.

Hi thanks for the reply, I have been out and recorded the football but when I got home I see the disk full error message, yet I have a 500gb hard drive with nothing on prior to setting the timer to record
Dunno where they record to as I thought it is setup for HD/movie

go to menu> setup> system> recording settings> check the default movie location is set to /hdd/movie/ and that timer and instant recordings are set to use <default movie location>.

Yes the settings are as advised above. The recording has failed due to write fail and I am left with the match in 2 separate files each lasting about 25 minutes each

What format has the disk been formatted in? Sounds like it maybe FAT32? which would result in a max file size of 4gb.

Hi mate I will check later. I just inserted the hard drive and initialised it through the menu setup on the box. I though inisialising was the same as fomatting it to the right format

I have removed the USB hard drive and formatted it to NTFS but now it isn't found when I go to menu, setup on my box. So when I try record it says disk full so it shows my recording locations are wrong but can't do anything now as my hard drive isn't found

If you formatted/initialised the drive in the box then it should be ext3/ext4 which should be fine. In order to mount an NTFS partition you need to install the ntfs-3g package, telnet to the box and run the command:

opkg install ntfs-3g

I have initialised the USB hard drive on my tv then put it in my box then initialised again. The record setting are all set to record to media but here is no media file on my hard drive.
The record settings says: parent directory-hdd
There is no media in it yet the location says \media

I have initialised the USB hard drive on my tv then put it in my box then initialised again. The record setting are all set to record to media but here is no media file on my hard drive.
The record settings says: parent directory-hdd
There is no media in it yet the location says \media

Have you actually mounted the drive or just initialised it ?.

Hi mate, I'm not sure how I mount it to be honest, I thought I just plugged it in then initialise.

Well I'm at work at the moment so can't go into great detail but have a look in the mount manager first to see what if any thing it shows for his drive.

I think I've got it now, I have mounted the drive now and I'm trying a recording now to the location. Hopefully I've got it.

Hi mate
The only problem I have now is its putting what I record immediately in the deleted items ? I'm not sure why though
