hi i was having trouble getting my tuner b to work so i looked at a few threads here and changed the inputs round and also scanned tuner b have it working now i think but after my scan of tuner b when i get my favourites up on my screen there is 2 of each folder is this right or have i done something wrong thanks
scrap that just checkec my recording its a black screen and when i set a timer to record after its started if i go to channel i am recording its just a black screen anyone have any ideas pls or point me to some info thanks

What image version number are you on, please don't say latest?
When you swap to the black screen, what effect if any does restarting the softcam have?
As the fourum does not condone CS, be careful of next response, you do not have to answer. What emulator are you using to read the card, what version and did you download it from openvix site?
hi i only bought box 2 days ago so was pre installed with vix i am using cccam 2.3.0 and nothing happens on the black screen it says its recording but its just a black screen i tried to do a scan of tuner b and it brought up 900+ channels but still cant record properly and now in my bouquets list i have multiples of all the channels so i am trying to find how to delete all channels and start again
oh its build 626 version 3.0 of vix
to delete the bouquets press menu when in bouquet list.
Why dont you use the autobouquetmaker

i am also getting your receiver encountered a software problem this is crazy 4th time in 2 days....
trying to put on channel and all it does is go back to your receiver encountered a problem???

Change channels or go into the menus. It is not finding the startup channel it was expecting.
i have got the channels back on now by using the backup made when first switched box on so i am just using the auto bouqet maker and the cross epg to get me back to where i was then i will try and sort my original problem out which was recording lol

So, what are your current problems with the box?
All work well I find. Drive obviously best. Buy a used 320G from Ebay for £25.
i am trying to use the hdd which was put in when i bought box i managed to record something last night nut i set a timer to record something today and back to the black screen its driving me mad i have changed feeds round tested both work i dont know what to do next :confused:

Missus is not too happy. Also got the recorded black screen on TM Twin build 626. Is this issue still only affecting TMs?
EDIT: I have gone to Recording settings and changed from normal to "descramble and record ecm", lets see if this fares better.
Can ye upload debug logs of when this happens.
Lots of us use the TM2T.I guess there are not a lot of users here though - that was my point - see his user name.
Mine records perfectly.

Another unsatisfied customer here using tm 2e. Recording doesn't work for me on 2 premium channels .
it says my hdd is HGST HTS545050A7 so it maybe an hitatchi 500gb and yes w.o.s installed it
Try formatting the drive again - you will lose data so only do this until you have exhausted all the advice here
Also make sure its mounted as HDD
Blue button>VIX>mount manager>green button > press left right to change HDD to HDD rather than sda1.
also go into the recordings setting and see where its set to record to.
ive done all that today thanks and ive also redone the f connectors checked snr and also checked both tuners work by using 1 at a time ive also set tuner b to be equal to tuner a to see if this changes anything ive set something to record later so will update on it........the recording i tried last night was setup for when the box was in standby dont know if this would make any difference or not??

Those are known as Enigma crashes and as a result they would have generated a crash log, these logs are a invaluable tool for us to identify and fix bugs etc, so if you have them either upload them to the forum or send them directly from within the logs manager on the receiver it self.
just had another crash and it says to send the log found in /hdd to vixlogs@worldofsatellite.com but cannot find any logs in that folder
Home/root/logs or just go to the logs manager in the image it self, fill in your details ( forum user name and email address ) then send them that way.
ive uploaded them to the vix support part of this forum thanks for your help so far
flashed build 627 then added cccam2.2.1 used ABM setup epg with openTV installed ondemand then did an update to 632 via the box setup recording with descramble and ecm times instead of normal setup a couple of timers via green button and this seems to have worked so far just incase anyone else wants to give it a try might help :)

A bad recording does not have a [RecordingName].ts.sc or [RecordingName].ts.ap...
Any idea why sometimes the files are not saved? I think that this is the root cause of the black screens that people will see?
Looking into this a bit more, and it looks like this is a problem that is experienced E2 wide, of which there is a plugin that you can download to try and fix. ReconstructApSc.
But... Not been able to get it to work with the recordings that I have done last night. Also, another common thing that I have seen (I have been recording a lot recently) is that I had not restarted the box for a few days, and thus 5 recordings failed in 1 night. I have restarted the box entirely, and recorded some tests today and no problems have been seen.
One thing that I think would be beneficial (I am still using the 4d image at the moment) is for to tell the user that two timers have been scheduled at the same time, but on different channels. I have ran into the same problem of gung ho recording, of which 3 or 4 have tried around the same time but failed. Has the Vix image got this functionality
There is no such a recording conflict notification within the ViX image.

As far as im aware the recording issues are due to drivers and only affect the tm's, i have not noticed any issues with any my Vu machines. Cant speak for the quad as I dont have one.

well give up testing the drivers with different images and just updated to latest build and wadda u no its recording! lol

Well loaded the new update, not tonight's, and still cannot record Sly 1 HD from the epg. Same problem just an empty recording? Tried a new scan to see if there was anything wrong but it can't be that as I can watch the program. Andy did report an incompatibility with one of the plugins bit that was obviously not the cause of the problem. Still seeking answers. A couple of crash loss sent in as well after the first time of updating the new enhancements. :confused:

I have been using 4d for the last month and not missed one recording. I agree there is a problem recording as I have encountered it in the past but only if I record two programs simultaneously. I was using VIX early Jan with the latest build at the time and having blank recordings with just one recording scheduled. Obviously there is an issue, and it does appear to be with box but also different images have there own issues with this receiver. Again, just throwing in my experiences into the mix.
I also have still have issues recording on twin and the 2t. But the issue occurs on 4d too, just not as often. Hope tm sort this out soon.
rang then yesterday they told me they havent got an issue and everything is working as it should went through setup on the phone and it seems to have worked for now going to test over weekend and if any problems then will ring them they were very helpful and kind

Still have got recording issues even with the latest VIX software loaded. Sky sports did not record properly and als Sly 1HD also still does lot record from the epg. Is it the Quad, the hdd, the software ???? It's driving me nuts. Do I have to ditch VIX And try another image.

Madaboutlotus - I wouldnt go ahead and suggest going to another image. This has been seen across the board, and it is seen to be Technomate driver issues that are causing the recording issues.
One thing that I have noticed, is that when the HDD is setup against media/usb/ is when I get most of my problems. I had it set against media/sdb1/ and I didnt have half of the issues of recording than I did with it setup against /media/usb.
Anyone any ideas on how to setup the hdd to automatically be read as media/sdb1/ ?

Try a few and find out, but I will say this. These issues are not tied down to a single image but they are across the board.

Had all of these problems you are all talking about and more, I decided to go back to build 385 from early december and works a treat, I`m not using any plug ins either other than what came with the image, works a treat now.

I have gone through the changelogs and so far I have found the following information with regards to Technomate driver changes. I hope those more informed can correct any mistakes I may have made.
Build 317: 20120925 drivers
Build 390: 20121026 drivers
Build 399: 20121031.2 drivers. (two sets of drivers on that date)
Build 413: Mention of update, but no date
Build 513: 20121208 drivers
Build 513: Linux updated to deal with deep standby issue
Build 620: 20130220 drivers
Based on Nipperlocko's post the 20120925 drivers do not have any issue with the scheduled recordings. I transferred these onto a TM Twin running build 643, it booted fine. I have confidence that any intermediary drivers would work also.
I do wish TM appreciate that it is not real-time recordings that fail, but scheduled ones that are not on the desired channel. If they accept this, then perhaps they can look at what they changed in the various driver updates, identify when the drivers caused the recording issue and investigate a possible fix.
Abu, have you the 20120925 drivers working on your TM Twin & recording fine with ViX build 643?
Abu, once confirmed that all is working with recording, can you provide a link to the Tm drivers above that work ?

Viewing: Yes. I have tried Ondemand and that worked.
Scheduled recording: Not tried properly yet. I have scheduled a recording for 22:30.
@Wizard55, The erratic nature of failures means I cannot guarantee it works fine. But shall upload tomorrow.

Bad news. Blank recording. Build 643 using 25092012 drivers, official Nov bootloader. Twin tuner setup, fixed 28.2 and rotor. Mgcamd 1.35a. Was watching "not to be recorded channel", prompt came up that a recording had started and finished as normal.
Just to add to what someone else posted a few days ago... I only had 4 files written to the HDD as opposed to 6 for successful recordings. .sc and .ap files were not created. The .cuts files was 0 bytes in size. I transferred the .ts file to PC and tried to play it back using VLC, this too was blank.

No you do not have to. Both can be installed and you select the one to use.
If you decide you want to remove it, you can do so in the plugins menu and select remove. If this fails, the emulators are located in the following location: /usr/softcams/ Just delete it.

Hi all. Am trying to experiment with different versions if ViX to see if I still have my recording problem (im using a TM-Twin). I just reverted to 338 and the problem is still here. This version has 2012-09-26 drivers. I cant find anywhere to download an older versions of ViX from to try older drivers - can anyone help me with that?
Btw with ViX 552 and 632, if I scheduled two recordings simultaneously, it would actually make 2 recording but one would be severely glitching and stuttering. With 338 Im getting one channel recorded fine, and one completely blank. I have been using CCcam 2.0.11 for all my testing.

Stick with the latest image. It is pointless losing out on image enghancements.
The new receivers are very good barring this big issue. Drivers are being worked on. Until they fix it, if you want to record something and are not at home, leave the channel on the one you want to record and you are unlikely to get a blank/failed recording.
Anyone had any luck with TM getting the updated drivers, or are they still not playing ball??
Still getting blank recordings... had two recordings that worked but the third failed... is this still a drivers problem?

Yes, it is still a drivers issue. They are still working on it.
For the time being, set your timers as zap and record instead of just record. (Comes under timer type)

todays image is still running the older drivers as we test the latest ones given to us by TM, if theses ones work they will be included in the image.
I hope the drivers come soon. I have quite a few people in the house and just cannot manage leaving it on the channel (zap and record) I want to record. I am getting all sorts of problems. What a mess! :-k
Well after the last update i have done several recordings and every one worked !!!!!!!!! :D

These seem very good at the moment. As always back up your existing ones. These drivers work on Single,Twin and 2T.
