Hi all,

Rapidly losing patience with my new Solo2 here. Have flashed OK with openvix-3.0.626-vusolo2_usb and
with BlackHole-2.0.1-vusolo2_usb. Apart from making a weird buzzing noise through the telly, but not through a scart only through the hmdi, the box seems capable of very little else.
The screen is pretty unreadable. It's off to the left so you can't see the edge of the words and the coloured buttons at the bottom are invisible so what they do is a mystery. The set up invited me to resize so the edges of the blue box..... There is no blue box! Anyway at this point all the words and pics were nicely in the middle of the screen. Not once you finish the install though.
I've tried autoscan, manual scan, autobouquetmaker and Vix 28.2 East Sky UK Bouquets 03-03-13. Whatever. The appearance is frankly unusable with no user friendly way to navigate to channels.
The handbook supplied is a nice coaster but good for little else and the manufacturer's own website fails to provide a manual!
I've wasted 2 whole days on this thing, who knew there were so many forums for this stuff. I must have read them all. God knows how much telly I've missed:D

Please help before this gets sent back to Amazon:confused:

Cheers,

Keith.

as for the noise, have you the hdmi cable inserted fully into the TV & the box?
maybe volume up too loud on the TV & too low on the box?

as for picture size, you need to turn off overscan on your TV. Google the make & model to find instructions.
If you can't do that, use the OSD position setup & resize there.

After you have done a channel scan, hit the TV button (bottom left on the remote) to see your channel lists.

It's amazing how people blame their equipment for thier own short commings (or lack of intelect) :sofahide:

Thanks.
hdmi cable fully in at both ends.
Volume is fine, promise.
It's a Phillips. Good luck turning off overscan, I can't find any solution on Google or Phillips.

Any increase on £30.00?

I was completely new to the scene too having had a spiderbox just and got this not knowing anything. After plenty reading and asking few questions i dont know how i lived without it! You need patience at the start if you want to learn - but you have to want to!
P.S. I'm sitting in work controlling my solo2 at home and beaming from ear to ear

A lack of intelligence can lead to a buzzing noise? Never knew that, I must be thick.

I'm a newbie and the solo 2 was a doddle apart from my lack of interlect lol.. To size your screen, Go to setup, scroll down to interface and in there is position... you can re size the screen, and the position.... If you can't manage that let me know and i'll up the cash price to £40 :)

And what reason do you give Amazone? That you're not capable of mastering a fine piece of equipment?

You googled 'overscan Philips <exact type number>'?
Or read the manual?

You get the buzzing noise only when on the startup screen?

Ok, hands in air, I didn't. I just googled overscan Phillips. It's a mission to get to the back of the set. However, feeling your reproachful stare I got the model number then googled as you instructed. Nothing. Sorry.
The re sizing has, though, made the menus visible/usable :)

Seems so, and only with hdmi, not scart.

So it's not a big deal then? or are you one of those peole who turn off everything before going to bed :D
The only time I see the boot screen is after an update otherwise the box is always on ;)
The boxes are supposed to left on, when not in use you just go into standby :)

Tis a HD "ready" TV not a proper HD telly, thats most likely why the option isn't there.
Thats truely awefull set, I have more or less the exact same but in plasma rather than LCD

IMHO LG's are good value for money should you ever be in the position to get a new TV

I have an LG 50" Plasma in the living room, outstanding PQ
I also have a 32" LG LCD in the bedroom, also outstanding
Best bet is to view a few sets (then find the same set cheaper on the net :p ) but be warned!!!! alot of shop will tell you a load of BS and crank up the brightness and contrast in the shop!!! best to go to a specialist shop  and NOT the likes of Currys to view and THEN read up a few reviews on google BEFORE parting with the dosh.
You can now get LED TV's (bit like LCD) shop about M8 ;)

LCD vs Plasma? pros and cons for both, I have one of each.
