I have no wired network at home as I use 11N wifi, can anyone confirm or deny gigabit lan actually works on the Quad?
If its not working (which I suspect is the case at this time) its a bit of a joke considering the Quad was released more or less 6 months ago and was advertised as having GBLAN
I am in the process of going for wifi to wired network at home and this has a bearing on what equipment I'll buy ;)

Waiting for new drivers, the ones released yesterday seems don't enable gigalan yet.

i herd that no drivers released can fix this. and that an additional device will be needed. im not sure if its true tho

Well, whatever the specs of the Quad's LAN, I would always choose wired if possible. WiFi will never be better (faster and/or more reliable).

TBH I find WLAN OK on the Quad, but nothing but trouble on the TM  Thats the main reason I'm going from wifi to cable :p

There is a new USB Gigabit Adapter for some Serial numbers:

Better than nothing I suppose, but 480 Mbps is far from GBLAN :(
I must check my serial number later ;)

I have serial that is within the limit, how do I prove I have it and I can get a free gigabit upgrade?

Interesting to see that there are usb to gigabit devices available in the market that run at full spec, so if the technology exists then I guess they are fixing the issues with the cheapest kit they can get their hands on :)

Hi twol,
you will not get full spec with the USB adapter because USB < 3.0 is not able to get more than around 250MBit/sec.

not 480 Mb/sec?
if only products built in a lapse of time has this problem, it seems an error or choice of some wrong hardware not compatible with Gblan spec...
isn't it a cause of sostituition of the whole box?

Hi,
try an external USB 2.0 HDD on your PC and you will see that there is a limit at around 30MByte/sec which is around 250MBit/sec. USB has a lot of overhead which eats a good part of the theoretically 480MBit.
