I have been looking on forums, and i have read that you cant watch say sky sports and record bbc hd.
Is there a issue here, or is this bad info i found on the net.

i am on the last stages before buying, and recording is important to me

thanks

What you cannot currently do is watch a recording of a $$$ channel whilst it is still recording until they sort out the drivers

That's not so bad, I presume with the older vu units this is fine, so it should be a easy fix for vu

I am sure this is a silly question but I shall ask it.

The solo2 can do all what the older gen of vu can but is just faster, is that right?

Do all, and a bit more. Gigabit ethernet, transcoding, etc.
And as you said, a lot faster.

As far as I know the latest drivers aren't built into the vix image yet.
Once you flash your stb, source the latest drivers and ftp to
/lib/modules/3.3.6-1.2/extra/ overwriting the old drivers, then reboot the box.
Backup for you install new drivers

Cheers guys. Just to double check this would be the drivers dated 20/12/2012?

There's been a number of driver releases since 20/12.
Think the latest are 18/02. Not sure if I'm allowed to post links on here, so if you google archive vuplus drivers, the second result will be the driver download section. Scroll to the bottom and that should be the latest one.
I haven't actually installed the latest one, I'm still on the release before that, think it was 7/2.
Oh, and make a backup before installing drivers and make sure you have the correct one's.
