Now i've installed hdd's in various pc's, tivos, sly+'s, etc, since '93, but am i the only one to remove the caddy/mount and then screw the hdd so that the bottom/pcb now faces towards you?

I thought that was the natural fitting, but the only photo i've seen, shows it mounted on top of the bracket, which sort of makes sense heat wise, but not space wise.

I've now done that, but haven't refitted the lid of the solo, so just wondering on people's opinions?

As the space is there to mount it on top, not sure if there is any issue.
Did open a Solo2 tonight tonight & the mounting is different, didn't see any harm though?

will have to check tomorrow, wonder if the air flow is across the heatsink from cpu towards the hdd if mounted upside down though?

I couldnt see any other way to do it

I also installed the hdd 'upside down' but have reinstall it 'correctly'. However subjectively the box seems to get slightly warmer. Any more thoughts?
