Hi Guys

Im new to this please bear with me
the problem i have is with commercial i.e with adverts timed recordings
i.e if i add a timer with green button from epg

i always get a overlap from previous program
i have noticed in recording setup there is
settings for margin after recording, and margin before recording
what is the best way to set knowing adverts delay start of program
any suggestions as to what i should set ??

I always leave the default settings in place just incase a program over runs. you can however adjust it if you want but i'd still keep at least a 2 minute overlap before and after just to be safe.

hi warajoker

Been off sat for some time, but coming back to timed commercial recordings
can you clarify what you mean, I have two options in timer setup being
1. Margin before recording, mine is set to (3)
2. Margin after recording, mine is set to (5)

As im getting roughly 7 mins or so adverts before program records
and about 5 mins run on before recording stops....
in your last post to me can you tell me your suggestions, as you define as :-

I set the timer to start recording 2 minutes after the start time
and 2 minutes before the end time...

is that the same as my options or have I it the wrong way round ??

No, your options are set to record 3 minutes before the programme starts and continue 5 minutes after the programme starts.

AFAIK you cannot set it to record for less than the actual programme and best you can do is have padding set to zero.

imho if its not causing a problem leave the padding allows for overuns etc

Hi stanman I understand now my first 3 mins is before program starts, its the 5 mins that confuses me, do you mean 5 mins after program ends, ?? Regards

Yes, by default, ViX has a 5 minute over run after a recording show is due to end.
This can easily be changed in recording settings though but suits most UK & IRE broadcasts just fine...
