Hi all,

thinking about getting one of these for the kitchen and just have a couple of questions around these.

1) if i buy from sponsor with the wifi adapter included but also want to connect a hard drive can i use a normal usb spliter?

2) are there any good sky channel lists available for this box?

3) what are the patched firmwares like? i have used 'open boxes' before are they comparable to those?

Thanks in advanced

Hi!

I have an Ariva 52E, which as i only (so far) use it for free-view channels, i'm very pleased with it's simpicity, which is very user-friendly, in my opinion.

I also purchased the Ferguson W02 Wi-Fi adapter, which works ok, but seems to depend on my internet connection for that particular evening (signal strength)... maybe i need to re-position my router? Sometimes i get 88% signal, other times anything between 67-77%, but when i DO have a good strength (80% or more), then it works great.

There are reliable firmware updates, which i've done through my USB-stick, and likewise, a good channel editor, if you want to back-up your channel lists on your pc (Ariva 3606 editor works fine for me).

As for the USB splitter, i bought a Belkin, with 7 USB-ports, which i THOUGHT would let me have BOTH my external hard-drive AND my Wi-Fi adapter connected AT THE SAME TIME.

However, although this seems to work ok with my Western Digital Elements 2TB external hard-drive, i find that the receiver turns itself off sometimes, then re-boots, if i ALSO connect the Wi-Fi adapter to one of the other USB-splitter ports.

So for my Wi-Fi adapter usage, i just disconnect the hard-drive from the splitter, then plug the adapter directly into the receivers' USB port. Just remember to select 'Remove USB Device Safely' from the menus in the Ariva 52E, when disconnecting you hard-drive, before using a Wi-Fi adapter in the back of the receiver, as the user manual states that this can damage either the hard-drive or receiver!

Finally, as for Sky channels, i've asked the same question myself, but i'm still awaiting a reply... i think that this Ariva 52E is only capable of receiving free-view channels, even with EMU, not Sky, but i hope i'm wrong!

I'm also awaiting help with how and what channels (if any, for this model) i can open with EMU patch firmware, which i've yet to install. For me it's Astra 2A, 28.2oE that's relevant.

Hope all this helps!

The W03 adapter works load better, tested on a unit otherside of my house to the router. W02 needs a USB extension cable so its not tucked behind receiver, works ok, but the W03 has excellent signal strength. Gets 98-99%.
