View Full Version : flashing vix 1.1 image, but ?
i am planning to flash this new vix image, because the first one was very good, now i was just about to do this now, but i have just seen this post, http://www.vuplus-support.co.uk/showthread.php?2642-New-drivers-are-out-27.09.2010
now should i put this new drivers on before reflashing over the old vix image, or are these new drivers already in the new vix image, and another thing if i after put these new drivers in, what steps should i do all this in, and where do they go the new drivers, please
Just flash with VIX 1.1 for now, until we've had a chance to test.
but that means reflashing again if the new drivers are needed, isnt it ?
The new drivers are not needed with vix 1.1.
thanks sicillian m8, this is what i found on the vu+ original site, http://vuplus.com/?m=201009
i think it is already in the 5.3 image so i think vix surely has the newest drivers like 5.3 yeh ?

No VIX1.1 does not have the drivers dated 27-09-10, VIX 1.1 was released on the 26-09-10 ;). We will test and report back once we know if the drivers in VIX1.1 can just be replaced via FTP.
thanks sicilian m8 for your quick reply

They go here /lib/modules/2.6.18-7.3/extra/
Extract and ftp to above.
Overwrite the existing. I've tested and they do seem to work fine, although I've not had time to fully check every function.
but do i put all the 4.1.1 files there and all the 4.3.3 files there too, ?

Depends on the gcc version off the image, to check this run the following commando in telnet and you know.
cat /proc/version
To make it simple
OE 1.5 uses 4.1.1 like Pli
OE 1.6 uses 4.3.3 like Vix, Vti
Or this commaned using putty: -
ipkg list
Then look for the version of gcc, denoted by something like "libgcc1 - 4.4.3-r0.1". If its 4.4.3, then install those drivers. If 4.1.1, then use the 4.1.1 drivers.
VIX uses 4.4.3.
tnx, my image is VTI 2.0 and gcc 4.4.3 ???
which driver must I load?
