View Full Version : Internet streaming
Hey guys
Quick question
What controls streaming of video? Is it upload speed or download speed?
Reason I ask is that I was at my grandads for his birthday with family and put argo on using icefilms and it went on without any glitches.
In my own house I tried same film and same link in list and all other links and its glitching like mad.
An o2 modem surely cant be better than virginmedia "superhub"
I find the time of the day has a real effect on streaming.

Think you will find it's up to ....... but certainly worth a call, if you can get a response :), but also will depend on how busy the servers are, and often when the USA wakes up, rather than your bandwidth..
i have bt and did the speed test 15.83 download and 0.95 upload. Does this sound decent?
Thanks

I get this problem whenever I try to stream any movie but I put this down to my download speed as I only get 0.70 download and 0.45 upload lol, it really pisses me off as my friend next door gets 4.25 download and 0.90 upload, any idea why this could be?
Hi chuck
Does your neighbour have the same ISP as you? Either way I would ring your provider and make them aware of his/her speeds. To be trully accurate, you should both perform a speedtest from the same site (preferably speedtester.bt if in uk) at the same time of day.
shaft.

Yes they are on the same provider well they were as I have now changed ISP, due to bad customer service, called them many of times about this but just kept getting fobbed off, new ISP takes over tomorrow so hopefully it will be faster :)
