View Full Version : [VU+ Duo] Vix Player ffw / rewind
Anyone else find they cannot FFW or Rewind AVI / MKV etc files, when streaming from home PC or other mounted devices.
I can press the move forward/back 5 / 10 /20 mins etc.
Recordings made on the box are no problem to ffw etc..
Ideas anyone ?
Afaik the vix team are aware if the media playback issues with fast forward and rewind and are working on fixing it

Unfortunately this is not something we can work on: it's most probably caused by sloppy coding of the files.
You can re-code the files on your PC (using a program like 'Handbrake'). Using H264 settings should be the best choice.
Thanks rob for clearing that one up. Just had seen other threads mentioning playback issues

I forgot to say: in build 521 there has been an image related update in this area (Gstreamer); if you are/were on a pre-521 build you'll need to flash the box to take advantage from that.

Have recoded several films using handbrake and setting 264 as suggested to mp4,mkv and m4v all work visually and audio but still the ffw/rwd buttons do not work.
Currently using vix build 569

Then please try a more up to date image and see if it still happens.

Just updated to latest version 600.... Exactly the same ffw/rwd works fine with recorded items on box but all other variants it will no ffw or rwd. Tried all coding variants

As the hardware has not been changed, this is indeed a most likely outcome.
Best coding option is H264.
Which box are you using? some are a lot better than others for this.

Vu + Duo tried encoding to H264 still no go. Looks like cant be done no biggy
My Duo plays most of the files I throw at it, can take a few seconds to sync after ff/rw but usually sorts itself out.

Plays files ok, just as i said no ffw/rwd. Just have to admit defeat here... We tried..:p
