View Full Version : [VU+ Ultimo] Empty recordings

Hi

I realised yesterday one of the channels on Vu+ ultimo is consistently producing empty recordings (showing up 0:00 in the recording list, 0B in ftp).
It's France2 on Astra.
Other channels are recorded fine (even HD).
I use oscam to read a live card (TNTSAT).
VIX 3, build 569

Any idea ?

I have the same issues several times last weeks on Dutch channels RTL5 HD and SBS6 HD on A23.5.
This problem occurs when those channels are recorded at the same time, but I cannot reproduce it each time.
I use ViX 3.0 build 600.

Maybe the debug logs show relevant info.
And what do the timers tell you (select the finished timer in the timerlist and press 'info')?

VIX 3
Hence moved to the ViX-section.

Thanks Rob and sorry to post in wrong section. Made some tests.
- Tried to record on LAN location : same problem (other channel records fine)
- try to flash other image (POD) & record problematic channel : no problem, it records fine
- re-flashed with build 600, imported backup : problem is here.

How do I get debug logs ?
What about timer info ? the problem happens too with "direct record" ie no use of timer

to better describe the problem & steps to reproduce :
- zap to France2 (it shows, so properly descrambled by oscam or cccam - local card)
- press record, start recording
- in recording list, recording being made (red dot) stays at 0:00 in length

Same problem with timers ...

sebhki

tried with following cams (same results for all) to read my local card
- oscam
- oscam + cccam
- hypercam

All setup descramble ( I can see the channel ), but recordings of this channel keeps empty

LogManagr --> enable debuglogs --> restart GUI

Yes, but the info on finished timers might give a clue.

This problems looks like a driver issue. You could be of great help by trying:
1- First install the latest drivers from
http://archive.vuplus.com/download/drivers/ Unzip the files to /lib/modules/3.1.1/extra , overwriting the existing ones, and see if this makes any difference for the issue?
2- If that doesn't help, please install VU's Original 2.1 Image from
http://code.vuplus.com/ or the VTi image based on that from
http://www.vuplus-support.org/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=43247

Thanks for the advices Rob.
>unzip the files to /lib/modules/3.1.1/extra , overwriting the existing ones
Done, reboot, same problem ...

As for installing other image, what do you suggest exactly ? Install it and revert to ViX ? Would that update the drivers somehow ?
Because it's interesting to note here that I tried the following yesterday ( I was running build 567 I think)
- I flashed to POD image
- problem did NOT reproduce (= I could record the channel giving me the problem at hand correctly )
- Flashed with ViX build 600 & imported backup
- problem reproduces now

I managed to fix the issue with the solution in
http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?26386-Problem-with-playback-when-still-recording-same-channel-using-OSCam/page2

Hi All,
have exactly the same issue (zero length recordings), had it on older builds and have it latest build. Seems to happen randomly on some freesat channels but almost always happens on the sky movie channels.
Default recording is on normal, tried different recording settings (e.g. record ECM) but made no difference. Timer info shows no errors and start and stop time in the log is also correct. So recording runs for the full programmed time but there is no resulting file (well file is there but has zero bytes).
Any suggestions how to solve this?
Regards
Markus

Zero recordings are often caused when you can't decrypt the channel.

Check your decryption method, but be careful with anything you post here and follow the forum rules.

yes, I can see how that could cause this, I use cccam with my sky card which has a valid subscription and decodes fine when watching live TV.
So I am not sure what I could try change in the setup to get it to work. If anyone has any suggestions don't hesitate :)
