Where can I download MGCamd 1.38c for the Vu Solo2? It's not in the download feed in the Vix image. I would prefer the IPK as that's how I'm used to installing packages that I don't get from the official feeds.

Thanks.

The last stable MGcamd for vix is 1.35a

Im use it all on the time on all my boxes.. and its flawless..

So why would you want to use 1.38c ..??

Or what will 1.38c do that 1.35a wont.. ??

I didn't know that. Where can I download 1.35a? I've migrated from a DM800SE to a Vu Solo2.

Just tried to install "enigma2-plugin-cams-mgcamd.1.35a_1.0-r3_mipsel.ipk" and it installs fine with no errors but the cam doesn't show up anywhere, not in flash and not in the softcam manager. Any idea why? I installed as a local extension from the tmp folder of flash.

Edit: Looks like 1.38 has installed fine. Got it from here: http://www.4shared.com/dir/wnyHV50A/VIX_CAMS.html

I have noticed when rebooting the box it takes a while for MGcam to load up, this didn't happen on my Dreambox. Is this one of the problems of v1.38?

I am looking for the file to download MGcamd for vix is 1.35a

and just found http://www.world-of-satellite.com/enigma2/openvix/index.php?dir=ViX-Softcams/&file=enigma2-plugin-cams-mgcamd.1.35a_1.0-r3_mipsel.ipk

Is this the best way to go for the solo2

Is it better/more stable than a oscam file?

infact i have installed this file, but how do you edit it?

sorry it should be create the file

"put the mg-cfg and the newcamd.list file into usr > keys"

i go to the location thinking there will be a file to edit but its a empty folder

I have a oscam file from my old alien2, would it be the same info for this?

You need to insert the 2 files you mentioned into usr/keys

Mgcam is client only so you will still need something else to read your card/cards.

The file newcamd.list contains the information for mgcam to connect
The file Mgcam.cfg is pretty generic and you should be able to find one from mr google

If youi install a generic one change this bit in red from 00 to 06

# box type
# 00 autodetect, change only if you think wrong type detected.
# 01 dbox2
# 02 dreambox
# 03 triple-dragon
# 04 relook
# 05 openbox
# 06 dreambox/mips
# 08 stapi/kathrein
# 09 stapi/ipbox
# 11 stapi/openbox
B: { 00 }

so to read it i should download and instal a file like

http://www.world-of-satellite.com/enigma2/openvix/index.php?dir=ViX-Softcams/&file=enigma2-plugin-cams-cccam.2.3.0_1.0_mipsel.ipk

is that right?

I personally use oscam to read my cards and connect to it via mgcam.

This was because cccam would not decode some of the channels on my subscription like pick tv and and some others.

i understand oscam more, how do you set it up

do you install MGcamd for vix is 1.35a, via usb
then put your oscam folder ................(what is the location for ftp)
then turn it on in cams?

So now i am at the stage nearly there both ways

with mgcamd i have created the 2 files in use/keys.
i just need confirmation that i should instal CCcam_v2.2.1-ViX.ipk to read it?

With oscam, i have the oscam.server file ready. i dont know the location for this but maybe the same as alien2 var/keys?. then do i need a reader for this if so what is it?

thanks for all your continued help and support

On a TM-TWIN-OE running ViX 3.0 I found that I could not get Mgcamd v1.35 or v1.35a to show on Softcam menu after install.
However, I found one on these forums (v1.38_ViX I think) that did install correctly and show in Softcam menu.
As others have found, the config file had to be modified from 'auto detect' the STB to '06' but you only have to do this once.

Been using MGcamd 1.35a on all 6 of my boxes for almost 3 years.. And never had a issue..

Use the attached files.. for MGcamd.. Do NOT ask about server details.. This is forbidden on this forum..

Just edit the newcamd.list file to your personal settings.. And use the mg_cfg as it is..

Add both to your usr > keys..

Same hear I use Oscam + Mgcam the problem I found using Oscam + CCcam was that I had to keep restarting cccam all the time since switching to mgcam I have had no issues what so ever..

Find the ipk file for the version you want. Put it on a USB stick. Place it in receiver and file OSD. YOU will need to put at least 2 files in the usr keys directory.

newcamd.list
&
Mgcam.cfg
