AS this is my first linux box I am constantly playing with it so that I can understand it better and eventually be able to contribute more.

I realise the box has 128 MB Flash and 256 MB RAM. If i want to clean down this memory and free it up how would I go about it?

Should I do a factory reset in OPENVIX 3.0? I dont mind setting it up from scratch by the way

Should I reflash the box and set it up from scratch? Does reflashing add to the exisiting memory and use it up or wipe it completely?

Ever time I reflash my box with OPENVIX 3.0 do I need to do this http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?20486-Helpful-tip-if-flashing-same-image-as-what-is-already-flashed-to-the-HD800UE and why does one need to do it?

Thanks again for your help guys

1- Cleaning up flash = de-installing plugins.
Cleaning up RAM would most likely be not importing too much EPG
2- A factoryreset only deletes the file /etc/enigma2/settings + the channellists. So nothing related to memory use
3- Flashing means the flash will be completely overwritten
4- No idea.......

any one else know why you need to do this if flashing the same image? http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?20486-Helpful-tip-if-flashing-same-image-as-what-is-already-flashed-to-the-HD800UE

Let's say that on as by default both EPG and logs have been written in flash.
If you install a USB pen drive (or an internal HDD) and point to those devices then you can manually FTP on the receiver, go in etc/enigma2 and delete crossEPG.

But at present I've no clue for the logs path in internal flash.

Logs are defaulted to Home/root/logs.

as for saving a EPG to the internal flash, no matter how much flash you have thats always a bad idea because the EPG.dat file can corrupt very easily and allow it to grow huge, filling the flash in no time. once this happens you have to reflash the box.
