I am just sharing this little guide with other vuplus support users.

Purpose of this tutorial is to learn how to get videos out of your vu+ duo and use them on YouTube or convert them to any other format for your cell phone, iphone etc etc.

By default VU+ Duo stores your recordings in the following path: /media/hdd/movie/

Simply use a ftp client like FLASHFXP to connect to your vu+

in the /media/hdd/movie/ the recordings are saved in MPEG TS (transport stream) format.

Download the .ts file recording on your PC.

First split up your .ts file , lets say the file is 30 minutes and you only want to convert 20 minutes of it.

Then use "TS Splitter". Download it from here:

Use the software, make the split.

Now you have the .ts file ready that you want to convert.

I tried many softwares, but after converting to some formats like mkv, the video would lag a bit (the converted video).

I find Xilisoft HD Video Converter 6 the best software. I tried making MKV's and it works like a charm.

You can convert the .ts file(s) to any format, like YouTube H.264 video, MKV, etc etc. All depending where you want to use the video.

The sofware is not free, but you can purchase it or find it through a warez source.

You can also use the bitrate calculator:

This way if you have a 3gb of HD file, you can simply shrink it down to your any size value you put like 1gb or 500mb even, (it will ofcourse decrease the video quality / frame rate).

Anyhow once you have chosen the profile, settings, just convert and you will have the file ready.

I tried upload .ts files on YouTube from ESPN HD and other HD sports channels, but the video can lag, but if you convert it first using the youtube profile in the software it will not lag and work like charm.

If you have any questions please ask.
