Sounds daft, but have you turned it off from the rear switch, and left it off for a few minutes, to give capacitors time to discharge. then powered back on?

yes done all that still the same still sticks on load - there was slight noise coming from the hardrive so i took that out to see if that had anything to do with it but still the same

Plug the network cable back in & set-up your network using static IP, you can choose DHCP first, restart the network so it picks up the settings, then turn DHCP off.
Reboot & report back if the issue is sorted.

you said you were using a old image first ? if so which one and have you ever updated the bootloader as the newer images need the newest bootloader to function properly ( not even sure if the new images would load at all with a old bootloader its been so long since i used one ).

have you tried with a different network cable ? the old one could have a short and therefore not playing nice with the Duo ?? just a guess but worth a try.

right guys i kept the network cable out and turned it off as soon as i turnred it back on again it went again stuck on loading. i thought it may have been a memory leak problem so i revetred to an old imge v2.0.0 from feb 2011 - again works fine with ethernet cable etc all working but as soon as i turn it of then back on again it sticks on loading again - im relaly baffled. i can get away with it until i turn box of then the problem happens . any ideas ??

its a strange one mate. The only time this happened to me was when I switch off at back and straight back on without waiting a few seconds for the fan to settle, But this has already been covered.

Have you installed any softcams?

Hi.. I get exactly the same.. I got it just after enabling NFS so I could view my HDD from my AppleTV. I've rebuilt several times, but whenever I reboot after setting up bouquets etc it sits there and hangs. I've logged into it via Telnet and can see the following in /var/adm/messages..
Jan 23 21:29:06 vuduo user.warn kernel: [CI]:get_remux_startcnt() count : 0
Jan 23 21:29:06 vuduo user.warn kernel: [CI]:get_remux_startcnt() count : 0
Jan 23 21:29:06 vuduo user.warn kernel: [CI]:>>close_mpod tuner:1
Jan 23 21:29:06 vuduo user.warn kernel: [CI]:remux stop
Jan 23 21:29:06 vuduo user.warn kernel: [CI]:get_remux_startcnt() count : 0
Jan 23 21:29:06 vuduo user.warn kernel: [CI]:get_remux_startcnt() count : 0
Jan 23 21:29:14 vuduo user.warn kernel: [CI]:ci_dev_release
Jan 23 21:29:14 vuduo user.warn kernel: [CI]:ci_dev_release
Jan 23 21:29:14 vuduo daemon.info init: Id "gui" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
Jan 23 21:29:14 vuduo daemon.info init: no more processes left in this runlevel

This just keeps repeating. I did remove NFS from the init scripts manually, but no joy. I've tried to start enigma from command line (/usr/bin/enigma2.sh), but that doesn't work either.

Try it with just the network cable back in. Can you read the USB HDD on a PC?

doesnt matter if network cabl eis in or not in once boxed switched off then back on again it hangs on loading - im beginning to think there is a hardware problem !!

Same for me. Network connected or not. Also, I don't have Samba or NFS enabled, so I won't be able to connect from a PC. I could enable them via command line easily enough (Telnet and SSH daemons are listening), but there's really no point as it has nothing to do with the respawning of the GUI.

anyone know where i can get a broken duo fixed ?

That Depends on whats wrong with it. I don't think there are many serviceable parts for these receivers.

I downloaded a beta version of VIX the other day and that seems to work fine after rebuilding (Not restoring any backup). I doubt it's a hardware issue if it's the same problem as I was getting. Mine was fixed via software.

Have you tried installing the standard Vu+ Software? If anything just to see if the problem still exists.
