Basically I attached the hdd, and everything.

in setup i dont see harddrive option , like to format or anything.

It plugs to the left side of where the red sata cable connects to the HDD. Look at the HDD, it can only fit one way round.

Thanks I did it, now it cannot be found in the system menu.

What have I done wrong? I hear the hdd it is on and everything.

Do I need to flash the box again?

it is a 1tb wd hdd, model WD10000CSRTL2

Have you rebooted the receiver then gone to harddisk > initialize?

That would be the problem. WD's are known to cause problems. iirc, what you need to do is put the jumpers in certain positions, so that it reads as sata 1.5gb/s not 3gbp/s...

I have a WD 500GB working perfectly and I didnt change any jumpers.

grtomby - sure.

1) I didi not connect the sata wire in properly, it had to make "click" sound.

So basically the hdd did get electricity and turned on but the data cable was not connected properly. Hence the receiver could obviously not find it.

I then found it via setup > hdd, initialized it and its running good.

Hope it helps.

The hd is 1TB wd, so it gave no problem, and i did not have to format it in ext3 or anything b4 putting it in.

VU+ DUO did it all.
