Already tested and working on:
Vu+ Duo with Openvix 3.0
Gigablue Quad Openvix 3.0
Azbox HD Elite Openrsi 3.0

The licence is GNU v3. So, if any one has any python skills with Enigma2 and want to work on it, go right ahead.
You don't need my permission to copy, reproduce or distribute this.

I have no connection with RTE.

This is my first plugin for Enigma2. I am not a professional programmer, I did programming in college over ten years ago. So if you see something majorly wrong programming wise, please don't shot me.

I started this on Wednesday, while work was quiet. Hopefully I will have more time to put into this project, but no guarantees.

I take no responsibility if anything goes wrong with your satellite receiver by using this plugin.

What a great plugin..

All running perfect here.. Mother in law will be delighted..

Now she will never miss another week of winning streak.. lol

Thanks for this.. and great work..

If i may make a small suggestion..

Would it be possible to have all the programmes in alphabetical order..

I think that would put a nice finishing touch to it..

:cool: Nice one Roger, I was just thinking about this type of plugin during the week - i'm going to try it on a Technomate TM2T OE.Do you want feedback on any issues / or logs, no pressure now, just might help with future development.

Cheers :thumbsup:

Well, sorry to contradict you here: this is definitely more then a proof of concept.

As this is a real plugin, i.e. not hacking systemfiles, there's little chance of that.
Tell me if you want me to make an ipk of the files, and/or to add it the ViX-feeds.

Good to hear it's working in Northern Ireland. Would like to know if it's working in the UK too?

I should be able to add an "A to Z" section. But for the Latest it's latest added on the RTE player site etc.

Feedback would be great. I need to add catching code to stop green screens.

I would definitely like help with an ipk and adding to vix-feed, but just not yet. Wait until it's a bit more stable.

Working a treat again Roger.. Brilliant Plugin..

I think Rob was asking your permission to add it to the Vix feeds.. and also making an ipk.. So it can be saved on your pc to install on other E2 boxes.. ??

I live in Ireland, so I can't get BBC iPlayer or ITV. I won't have anytime soon to work on CH4.

I'd say all are possible, seeing as it works in XBMC with python.

I had a quick look at TV3 early. As it working in xbmc so should be doable. I want to clean up the code first, but I will try to add it to the same plugin. Might got a chance to do the code clean up tomorrow.

Hi All.
Been using the rteplayer this morning for the first time to watch a full program (only used for short clips previously) and it keeps stopping from 1-3 mins in. Tried several programs and on my DUO and SOLO with the same effect. They play fine on laptop. Internet is 22ms 12mb down 5mb up and can stream full HD video no issue on several devices (tablet, laptop and phone )so it seems specific to the plugin.

Anyone else having this issue.

Hi df..
I know this is a bit long winded.. But why not try a fresh flash Build 553 with no backups.
Then install the plug in again.. ?

Just rebuilt them both Friday evening with openvix-3.0.552-vuduo_usb.zip.
And did online update to 553.
Its no biggie.
Thanks Anyway...

This is the code used for playing the files:

fileRef = eServiceReference(4097,0,fileUrl)
returnValue = self.session.open(MoviePlayer, fileRef)

class MoviePlayer(MP_parent):
def __init__(self, session, service):
self.session = session
self.WithoutStopClose = False
MP_parent.__init__(self, self.session, service)

I don't know a lot about how this works. If anyone knows how it works or how to make it work better, this would really help.

I'm more a interested into getting the regex working for different sites.

This plugin should work worldwide. If we get the right playing video files code, it should work for the different sites eg BBC iPlayer etc

Not sure if this helps, but here is a link to the code used by the xbmc iplayer plugin :

You can see how for example the feeds are retrieved starting with the code:
class feed(object):

RogerThis not sure if this is possible, but is there any way you know of for outputting programme name rather than stream name for info button press?

The unicode fix works perfectly by the way, thank you.

RogerThis
06-01-13, 22:45
Yes, it is possible. I should be able to fix it during the week.

excellent, no rush in implementing it.
Plugin working perfectly, so thanks again.
Only other thing, pressing stop to exit out of stream results in bringing up movie list rather than live TV, have only tested this on VIX on various boxes though so not sure if it's intended behaviour? or an image issue?

If anyone else is interested in making similar plugins, this is how I learnt how to do it:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW-TO:Write_plugins_for_XBMC
Scroll down to "2.1 Test, test, test again"

Here you will learn how to used regex (regular expression) to parse a html document and get the useful code, to go from page to page, and find the video file to play. It take a bit a practice, but if you're like me you will find it really enjoyable.

XBMC and Enigma2 both use python programming language, so the only real difference is how it's displayed on the screen. If you have any previous programming experience, then you will pick up python every quickly.

Hi All. I'm using ET9200 with OpenPli 3.0 E2 from 23.05.2013 and I'm trying to get the 3player to work but I get an error message that says: No module name sgmllib
Is there any way around this without changing the image?
Just to say big massive thanks for the RTE player, which works fine on OpenPli 3.0

sadly if we did that certain persons would insist we had a ulterior motive.

needless to say you can still use the old and no longer updated stand alone version or you can use the OnDemand plugin which always contains the latest version of this and other plugins.
